Ahh I'm so happy you reminded me to go watch Super. Rainn Wilson ftw <3

Also a great list except for Capt. America which I found pretty formulaic and boring.

I wasn't planning on ever seeing Tree of Life based on the pretentiousness and convolution I keep hearing about, but I guess I have to give it a chance with such a recommendation.

I agree that Tree of Life was awesome. To the people who say that it has no plot: You didn't watch closely enough. The imagery is amazing and perfectly emphasizes the subtle plot.

so Escape to the Movies is occupied by movies, that still doesn't explain why this is here, he has an entire other thing devoted to movies already (Intermission)... not only that but it's not like he has to do a top 10 list... WTF

I'm hoping to see an episode on The Artist, to have an american opinion on it, instead of the usual french and/or european ones... Maybe with the Oscar Special episode ?

I'd also like to add this to everyone who yells at Bob or Yahtzee when they don't like something they like:

o·pin·ion   [uh-pin-yuhn
noun
1.a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.
2. a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
haha, i love how you went with "text book definition" there. "There is no argueing against the books! They are the final word. You lose. Shhhh" (wish i remembered where that quote comes from but it came to me emdiantly out of some storage closet in my brain xD).

I completely agree :) but even Bob and Yahtzee know that part of having a comment section for your channel is so you can here the audiences opposing opinion. There will always be some yes but when there is a LARGE amount of said comments they have to step back and go "hmm, i should avoid repeating this again as i don't want to lose audience members."

Final thought: These kinds of comments where people get angry because they have differing opinions should not be as prevelent as they are. But do not let them upset you. They are, in part, necessary.

I also really enjoyed Rise of the Planet of Apes and Captain America was pretty solid too.

Why do you care and why was this worth a post? Bob does a top 10 every year. It's his show, he can do whatever the hell he wants.

No, I didn't read your post. No, I'm not going to. I thought the movie was bad, and you're for some reason butt hurt that I don't like it. Get over it. I didn't like the movie, opinions differ. I really don't see what you were hoping to achieve with that post, after I clearly indicated that I don't want to start a meaningless argument.
I am not butthurt that you didn't like the movie because personally I didn't find it amazing either, it had created good characters, only not to have most of them develop enough in the short running time. My main gripe with your post is that your reasons for hating it are for the most part utter crap under close scrutiny(as previously stated "abysmal acting" is a horribly simplistic criticism of any film). The sense of humour wasn't meant as an insult, some people don't have the capacity to recognise comedy as you have now demonstrated. If you and your friend had been paying attention to the film you would have realised the kids did not have water (if you get my meaning) in their water gun and the comedy wasn't from the ridiculousness of two 9 year olds thinking they could take on an alien larger than themselves with just a water gun. If you don't understand how that could be construed as funny, then you obviously have a serious lack of humour.

+1 for Attack the Block should not have been in the top 10.

Maybe it is a US, UK thing. For a US audience it probably seems interesting in a isn't stuff from the UK quaint.

For people in the UK, they felt no empathy with the kids as they just seemed like the usual gangster wannabe, delinquent, dirt bangs that hang around most UK cities. The same types who would have been out looting over the summer. I for one was cheering for the aliens. Even Nick Frost in an amusing all leather shell suit could not save this rubbish.

As far as their acting goes, it must have been good enough for me to hate them.

Maybe for most in the UK, we are biased. It is a bit like asking if a rape victim enjoyed a movie where the lead has a history of raping people. It's just to close to home....

I was already reluctant to elaborate on why I hate the movie, and what, you expected some kind of intricate breakdown of the movie and a meaningful critique? Of course it's a crude criticism, I'm not writing a fucking blog post review for you to read.

No, I do not find kids thinking they can take on an alien with a water gun funny. At all.

No, it's not called a "serious lack of humour", you're just ignorant and think the world revolves around your opinion. Different people find different things funny. The sooner you realize that sense of humor is subjective, the sooner you'll stop humiliating yourself post after post.
crude criticism= bad criticism= bad opinion based on nothing. Care to elaborate on why you didn't find it funny? Also, pulling the subjectivity card means nothing.

The tree of life... juck. Please don't look at me and think "he just didn't understand" because I understood that movie 45 minutes before it was over and in between all those lovely boring shots of space, dinosaurs, algae and other assorted nonsense that was placed in it.

Its a movie for people who think movies are this higher form of artistic expression. It doesn't care that there is an actual human being watching this snooze fest going (opera/symphonic music played on the background to some slow motion image of whats assumed to be the birth of a star?! preteeeeeeentious to nth degree).

Boy did I hate that movie. I was pissed mostly because you know what? the hole thing of it being a portrait of how we tend to remember our childhood and how its more about a man reflecting on the past that up to that moment he had neglected and the hole thing getting mixed with the emotions from the parents and all that happens... brilliant. The rest, art-house-movie porn.

Tree of Life I would´ve thrown out and not because I don´t like hyper artistic experiences like that. It just didn´t click at all with me. I would´ve probably switched it with Melancholia. Now that´s one visually stunning end of the world.

Glad to see Midnight In Paris got some love though. I loved that movie. Funny, smart and not one bit of the usual overdramatic crap you see in other movies of its kind.

2011 has proved to be an interesting year in film, or at least the year-end run down has. I can't remember a year in recent history when film critics' top pick lists have look so dissimilar, and here I'm talking everyone from the old guard (Roger Ebert) to the hip nerds (such as the AV Club, wherein all the critics contributing to the final list had very different ballots). Tree of Life is about the only film I see appearing on most lists, but it certainly isn't always at the top.

I don't think this is a bad thing - it seems we actually had a nice assortment of films actually make it to screens this year, even if you had to hunt down a few of them in art-house theatres. It's kind of comforting in a year when The Smurfs happened... [ugh]

It's also intriguing in that we've had no absolute critical darlings - for every stellar review of Martha Marcy May Marlene, Midnight in Paris, or even Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy there has been a strong opponent who thoroughly disliked the film. Has made for interesting discussions, and may actually make awards season watch-a-ble (although I'm not counting on it)...

I'd love to know if Bob had the chance to see any non-fiction films. It was another great year for documentaries with Tabloid, Project Nim, and The Arbor just to name some of my top picks.

This is a joke, right?
Two utterly pretentious arthouse flicks (Woody Allen and Tree), two forgettable superhero movies (Captain -Propaganda and X-bland), Chavs vs Aliens... Okay while I've not seen Super or the action chick movie, but the only movie in this list that I thought was any good was Drive, and it's nowhere near my personal top 10 for 2010.

Plus I don't see any of the movies Bob actually seemed to like in his review in this list. If it is not a joke, Bob's tastes are even weirder than so far has come clear from his Game Overthinker/Moviebob/blog.
