I should have known that if someone remembered the live-action Guyver movies other than me, it'd be Bob.

Actually, I never saw the original movie (it was released as 'Mutronics' in Australia) because I'd heard that it honestly wasn't very good. I did see Dark Hero though. Not bad, not great, but hey, getting to see the Guyver costume in live-action is ALWAYS worth it. It's the most awesome superpower any hero has ever had, ever.

Ah, The Stuff. I'm a sucker for blob-type monsters movies, mostly because the blob always struck me as a really cool creature. Human-type killers are just so... boring. But the movie "The Stuff" did not impress me. The idea? Sure. Body-snatching via a food product. But much like Sucker Punch the presentation didn't work. The movie needed to be serious, not satirical. It couldn't quite pull off the over-the-top feel that worked for "They Live" when it came to sticking it to rampant commercialism.

I'm sure it will be remade at some point. But I'm not looking forward to said remake, considering the track record of other horror remakes as of late.

you know what might make for a good addition for schloctober, Uzumaki (not Naruto). Its a Japanese horror movie that is based on a manga about how spirals, or Uzumaki in Japanese, are the most evil thing in the universe. people get turned into snails, get killed by washing machine, its good fun all around.

Yes, and plenty of riffs on Lance Fuller's acting (starts at 1:23:00):

"'Well, mmm, gosh, I, um, hmm...'"
"Fear? Elation? What is it?"
"Despair? Love? Joy? [em]Tell us![/em]"
"Concern? Passion? Hunger? What, Lance?"
"Ennui? Angst? Apathy? [em]Gas?[/em]"
"Cold? Jubilant? Headache-y?"

Mark Hamill has mutated into an insect. Your argument is invalid.

Last time I checked The Stuff was available streaming on Netflix, go watch it... it's awesome.

I'd recommend the original manga over the movie. The movie was kinda confusing as a result of mashing up all that stuff from the manga.

Junji Ito has made many other similarly disturbing manga, that take a simple, common objects and concepts and by slightly tweaking them make them horrible.

I was a big Godzilla fan as a kid, big enough that I bought "Godzilla: Monster of Monsters!" for the NES. The very first enemy monster you encounter is Gezora, but I never knew Gezora's origin. Thank you, MovieBob, for solving a 23-year old mystery.

I don't think I'll ever be able to look at Luke Sywalker in the same way again. I agree witht he guy who said the killer demon baby was scarier though, maybe becuse like the other guy I hate kids. Who knows?

One recent movie monster that deserves more credit IMO is Grendel in Beowulf (the 3D animated movie which everyone has forgotten about by now). He wasn't just a rampaging beast, he also made the audience feel pity for him. Aw, Grendel was like a big autistic woobie. And they felt disgust. Disgust and pity together is a pretty powerful combination for a movie monster, because then the morality of killing that monster suddenly blurs into grey.

Yeah, give Grendel more credit.
