The button game started as a joke between a friend and I but grew into a rather interesting game idea I would like to run past you all.

The game is based, as you may have guessed, around pushing a button resembling the easy button from a Staples commercial.

The first level would be about as short as you walking across a white room and pressing a button.

The levels would gradually develop into a free running game resembling Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time but without all the fighting and tedious boss battles which would instead be replaced with a either a stealth element like breaking and entering or timed or something.

Any suggestions on what would add here would be cool.

Each level would be a bit longer, harder and more, I don't know, wildly funny and whatever with lots of button themed jokes.

Why does Portal come to mind? It sounds like after playing for many enjoyable hours I'd ask my self "Why am I enjoying this?" Followed a few hours later with "Why can't I stop playing?"

Okay, yeah, it does sound like Portal, but the mention of needing to use stealth does imply that the concept is likely to be open to more possibilities and tactics and shit.

I'd say your first step is to write it down in as much detail as you can. Make it tangible.

Yes and then we could have a gun that shoots portals and some lab run by an evil robot and some good music as the credits roll... Oh wait.

Ahh you see the objective here is the same as in portal. Exactly the same as in portal. Get to a point and move on. Chamber lock or button. You are not going anywhere really in the button game because there is no base here. Just run and push. It's a flash game.

Strangely enough, I haven't played portal. Sorry.

Anyways I was thinking more of a metagame based around architecture.

Think about as the game progresses each level could be in a different architectural style, Gothic cathedrals, New York style slums, futuristic plynths, Factories in the process of building cars, maybe the button moves on certain levels, timed runs for bonuses that let you jump higher (remember this is a parkour PoP type game) so you could get farther than before from roof top to roof top. What if there were levels in the middle of a Star Wars tatooine village?

As long as you keep the premise simple like "Push the button (Enter name here)" says a man in a suit and leave it at that you achieve kind of a Kafka-esque ambiguity that works really well in metagames.
