This would feel like something that would come back to bite me so, no, I probably wouldn't.

Hell i'd do it for free.
Nah i wouldn't do it really, i might do it if it was to someone who deserved it but you can't know in this situation so no i would not. And this is despite my opinion that the world population is too large.

Are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who do you think i am?!

I have two reasons to throw that button into a woodchipper. First is moral one - human life is worth WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than useless $100. Second is that with my luck, the consequences will be absolutely disasterous.

Everyone who'd like to mash said button severely overestimates their luck. And oh.

[HEADING=1]GUYS WHO WANT TO SOLVE OVERPOPULATION WITH GENOCIDE: YOU SERIOUSLY RESEMBLE ADOLF HITLER![/HEADING]

I wonder what would happen if the same people in this thread that chose to push the button entered a thread about something along the lines of "Do you believe in Humanity?" or "Do you care about your fellow man" etc..

Myself no I wouldn't push the button. Money is meaningless unless it is earned. Now, if I had to kill all those people myself....That would be real work.

I also wonder. But considering that this forum is full of fake misanthropes who try to appear kewl and edgy by pretending to not care about said fellow man (while in reality they do care)... that's a rethoric question, obviously.

Haha, yes good point. In all honesty I think that anyone who so whimsically admits that "hells ya I'd push the button" is fooling themselves. If that scenario actually happened to them I doubt they would be so quick to do it, especially ad infinitum like some of these people claim to be doing. These are the same people, most likely, that would think negatively of a man who kills someone while drinking and driving. How is this any different? What's worse is you are sober. It's still random murder.

No... not for a hundred dollars that would only add up to about 54 quid anyway. Thats not worth a human life. Now if you said 1000 pounds...

Er, morals and junk aside, do the bodies remain or disappear? This might affect my decision a little. Although, I could see that very quickly falling to the wayside after I press the button for the first time, the money appears, and I remember that I have a rather large debt under me.

This is the kind of concept that makes me fear the monetary system and what it does to people =/

For $100, there's no way I'm pressing the button. A human life is worth more than that.
no it isn't people are routinely killed for far far less. thats not even taking into account the sheer overabundance of them. a HUGE amount of problems could be solved with the sudden loss of a few billion people
That's all well and good in a cold logic kind of way until you or someone you care about is one of those few billion people. While tempting, I don't think genocide is necessarily the way to go to solve overpopulation. Unless perhaps for someone who thinks Hitler was on to something there.

Even if you don't know the person, someone does. It's likely whomever dies will have family/friends/people who love them. Does that not matter just because it's not "you" who gets someone they love taken away?

People are killed for way less than $100, that's true, but that should be a wake up call to how shitty we treat each other. How people can be such selfish assholes. Call me crazy, but I don't think other people being selfish assholes justifies me being a selfish asshole.
Genocide is singling out a specific group but that would be stupid, genetic diversity is what keeps a species adaptable long term. Hitler targeted specific groups for no damn reason and invented a whole load of crap to back up his insane rampage. You should really think things through before making comparisons like that.

Killing a random person for 100$ never, killing a specific person for 100$ without a second thought.

There are people in the world I believe are worth FAR less than 100$, but as long as the button is not targeting them specifically, no I would not push it.

As long as it doesn't target me, I'll keep pressing it till I get a fortune.

And even if it does, I'll take 1 to 7 billion odds, I think.

Everyone's gonna die eventually anyways, and I don't mind helping and benefiting from it if that doesn't do me any harm.

Life's objective worth is meaningless, and subjective worth of something to someone who isn't me is pretty meaningless to me as well.

Well, Necroswanson was right. Many people here are just hypocrites. There are a few good ones, though - the ones i keep coming back for.

I can bet i'm going to attract mod-wrath for civilly voicing my honest opinion.

If pressing the button didn't affect me in any way and i didn't have to actually watch the people die, i'd press it until i couldn't cram any more money into my bank account.

Honestly, i have no compunction when it comes to human lives, or loss thereof. I don't give a shit about a person i'll never meet - i don't give a shit about most people, period. I really, REALLY don't care about third world countries, not because i'm a racist and want to see them suffer, i just don't care and don't see the point of helping out when i get nothing in return. I lack a real conscience. This is probably due to my parents though, whose belief was always "Fuck people - they'd only do the same to you."

So, as misanthropic as it may seem, i'd press the button until the cows came home. I wouldn't care about the lives it'd destroy. Out of sight, out of mind, as they say.
