The main reason I don't like it is because of the community. From what I've encountered either online or in person, your average CoD fanboy will refer to anything that isn't M rated as childish and a waste, will belittle you for trying anything that isn't a shooter game and/or realistic, and rage when you say there are better games than CoD. This gets worse when the younger fans get involved, especially the ones who pretty much make up a majority of the fanbase now. You know the ones, constantly spamming the mic with vulgar and hate no matter what happens, and they are the same in real life as they are in the game.

Outside of the community, I dislike it because A) they saturate the market and make it so that other games get eclipsed when a new game comes out, B) they are too realistic for my tastes(I play my games to escape reality, not to simulate an experience I can have by joining the military), C) because of the popularity of the series, other developers and publishers see the need to make more shooters to further saturate the market with and slowly drive out the other genres, and D) I don't really like pure shooter games(Halo is the only pure shooter I've enjoyed, otherwise it needs to be a hybrid like Mass Effect).

I've tried the game, I liked CoD2 a good amount and liked CoD4 somewhat, but I haven't liked anything after CoD4.

If you notice there are two types of people who complain about call of duty. Those who complain that it is the exact same everytime and those who complain becuase of how much it has changed since CoD4. Now to me they cant both be right since a game has either changed or it hasnt changed. One of these groups is a bunch of fucking morons who have never played the game before. I shall leave which group that is up to you.
Coming from someone who played CoD 4 for a month and MW2 for a month (and has played the older games), because I couldn't be bothered with continuing, I can tell you this:
The older games had, to some degree, an element of variation. The newer ones, i.e. World at War, MW2, and Black Ops, generally just seem like bug fixes for the previous games, sometimes adding a new gamemode that's fun for about 2 hours (at least in my opinion).
It has changed a lot since CoD4 - meaning it has deteriorated significantly - yet now, it's the same all the time.
Meaning that it has changed a lot since CoD4, becoming the same again and again.
Both groups are, if you look closely at it, one and the same, and in many ways also in the right.

OT: I believe why CoD is hated on so frequently has been stated several times before me.

I do not like actavision, no I do not. they broke WoW & churn out these ridiculous Modern warfare games faster than you can believe, they are all the same, the multi-player is purile, OP perks, expensive DLC, no dedicated servers, etc etc. no. won't be buying. you gotta vote with your wallet in this business & that's how I vote.

If you enjoy the games & have no probs with the cost, I don't see why you shouldn't enjoy them. Have fun!!

I don't have much of a problem with the games. The fans though...the fans need to keep the fuck shut up. The campaign (Irrelevant of how stupid the plot is) is fun, spec-ops in MW2 was also pretty fun. Multiplayer, I can't stand.
