Have you ever considered a specific career to be "evil" or untrustworthy? Say a used cars salesman, lawyer, real estate agent or maybe the mailman that is humping your wife?
Why is it that there seem to be some jobs that are just considered "evil"?

I am currently looking for an apartment (woop!) and as a result of that I get to deal with real estate agents a lot (not woop!).

These guys tend to always give me "advice" on what is "smart" to do, and I can't take jack shit of what they are saying seriously.
Mainly it is because I, in the back of my mind, feel that he is trying to rip me off and take more of my money than he should.

But now lets say I meet a genuinely honest real estate agent... I would still not believe him, due to the nature of his job.

You can change the word apartment for car, and real estate agent for car salesmen, nad you pretty much have the same thing.

So my main point for discussion is this:

Are there some jobs out there that are beyond redemption, in terms of how they are viewed?
Or can a trend be changed?

Most people don't like lawyers and bankers, I suppose. Money Money Money, it's a rich man's world...

Some lawyers are pompous crapheads (I've met a few), but they get a lot of undeserved crap rep. Life without 'em could suck a lot worse.

Stormtroopers tend to be pretty evil.

A fair number or alternative medicine practitioners exemplified by a chiropractor, I forget his name, who claimed he could cure AIDS, resulting in not only his patient dying of uncured AIDS but also giving HIV to his partner and the kid they'd had because they thought the AIDS was gone.
A more satirical take on what I mean.

Lawyers, bankers, politicians, car salesmen, real estate people, generals, hospital owners. All I could think of.

Any job that gives you power over others as well as any job with a goal of earning money for the sake of earning money (bankers, real estate, salesmen, stock market brokers).

Game reviewers aren't evil (save Yahtzee, but he's a different KIND of evil). I'd put Publisher over game reviewer. ;) They make the major dollars, and most of the people working under them only see a small steady wage.

I have a roommate who's a chef, and apparently the only way to be a head chef is to throw anyone you know under the bus at a moment's notice. So in order to be up there among the top chefs, one would have to be pretty cruel and heartless, maybe even evil.
