The "Checkerboard" Effect (XBox Trouble)

Recently, I've been having a little trouble with my XBox 360. I'll load it up, play the game, I'll be playing for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, and then it happens. The game will freeze, The screen will become staticky, and then after about two minutes, the screen will turn into a checkerboard, though the game screen can still be seen clearly. I try to open the XBox Dashboard but that won't work. What's going on?

Probably the graphics card in the console is on its way out, or just overheating. I've had the same problem with pc graphics cards, and they ended up dying within a few days afterwards.

Probably best to look towards sending your xbox in for repairs

Something like that happened with me when i was playing Oblivion...went like that for a while, then suddenly, BOOM. RROD.

You may want to check your warranty. That sounds like your 360 may be on it's way to the big factory in the sky. If you get RROD, then you know you need a new one.
