I may be behind on the times, but what exactly is this virus? I was informed that it was a strain of the supervirus.

How is it spread amongst computers? Is there a method to defeating it? What are some proactive measures to keep it out?

And perhaps most interesting to myself, what does it do?

I heard about that. RTÉ News has been urging people to keep their firewalls up, and to make sure they've got a valid security system installed.
Microsoft Irelands representative was not good in front of a camera.

They say you get this message telling you you have to update something or other, and then it makes your PC explode, or whatever.
I dunno, man, it was way back yesterday.

It's either a computer supervirus that is the equivalent to ebola, or it is one of the most elaborate April Fool's Day jokes of all time. You really won't know until the botnet master decides to seize control of your computer.
Supposedly, it can be spread through use of flash drives that were used in infected computers (think virtual AIDS) or clicking on the wrong website. Microsoft says their patch should fix the exploit that the hacker used, but nothing's for sure.
