So here's my story of playing Yathzee's new Lovecraftian Roguelike, which you should definately check out.
The first Red town (red indicating towns that have dungeons) was 15m away from my spawn. I counted it as good fortune. Little did I know, it was just the beginning. All along this playthrough I was helpfully showered with ammo drops and enough money to re-fill a medkit once or twice. I picked up a Rosary (reduces SAN loss) from an early dungeon, and soon found the pentagram (halves SAN loss when casing spells), so health ceased to be a big issue after finding the full-heal spell.
After seven or eight red towns, I felt I had what it took to win. Also, there was 4 hours left, so not much choice anyway.
Three hours of dying, dodging the Tall Man, pistol-whipping shadows on the ceiling, and I end up by Gnix's rift, ready to banish the hell out of this Ancient One. I learned ALL about Kithoth (apologies if I get his name wrong, I'm too frazzled to go back and check now. Same goes fo the exact rune names), Including that his enemy was Gnix, that he was NOT invading, he was purple, Kz was only written in purple or it was blasphemous, he was the god of Pain, and Pain was associated with purple (which was redundant at that point). I knew NOTHING about Gnix, except that he was allied with the Agi rune. Since Chzo was named by his association with yellow, but I drew conclusions that he was Gnix's helper.
Trouble is, I get to Stonehenge only knowing 3/4 of the ritual.
(Gnix's rune), Kz, Agi, Eu.
Kz is out because it's Kithoth's rune, who's against Gnix.
Agi is out because it's Chzo's rune, and he's helping Gnix.
Shm, Bth, and Eu remain. I guess Shm, thinking that the banishment ritual likely wouldn't repeat runes.
Shm, Kz, Agi, Eu!
...A flash of yellow. I banished the wrong god.
On reflection, I could have inspected the wall-runes more closely, but I was convinced of my correctness. Also, the rift was yellow, which might have been a hint.
