I'd probably take the higher learning/magical powers route but I get the feeling it wouldn't be quite as much fun when any chaos I feel inclined to cause may easily be un-chaosed by any other graduate of whom there would probably be hundreds within any given city.
Well unless I got lucky and managed to be born with some inborn ability (like Psionics), I'd probably go with learning magic for my profession. Don't know what I'd do with it, maybe go adventuring, or perhaps just hire myself out as a mage for hire. I'd probably specialize in the Enchantment (ENCHANTMENT!) "School". I like me mind-fuckery, though I'd probably dabble in others like Illusion or Necromancy. Gotta be prepared for what life throws at ya. Never know when the Bugsby's Cat-Retrieving Hand might come in use.
In this world I would hope to be a magic user of some sort. I'd probably be Chaotic Neutral and I can demonstrate this by first killing my friend's girlfriend. Let me tell you a story about a time we played D&D.
So we're guarding a caravan and we're ambushed by goblins. The girlfriend was chaotic something and for some reason she thought that meant she was spontaneous and a ditz. So she decides she's going to set the caravan on fire. The DM looks up and asks her why the fuck she wants to set the caravan on fire. She says she's chaotic and thinks it fits her personality.
A couple of us were were napping in a carriage type thing and when the fire ignites we decide it's time to get the hell out. The warrior sleeping inside says he plans to jump out of the carriage. He roles a check and critically fails. As a result, he jumps straight up, hits his head on the roof of the carriage, goes unconscious and burns to death. I manage to get out of the caravan and after a short breath I am savaged by the goblins. Woe is me.
A rogue who was sleeping on top of the carriage things jumps off and starts sprinting away. He is told to roll a luck check. He critically fails and as a result it turns out the caravan was hauling a ton of oil. The fire ignites the oil and causes an explosion. One of the wagon wheels flies off in the explosion and decapitates said rogue.
All that's left now is a warrior who was walking along side the caravan and the mage who set the fire. The warrior tells the DM he wants to heave his greatsword over the carriage. Again, the DM looks up and asks why the fuck he wants to do that when he is surrounded by goblins and fire. The warrior is adamant about it though. He demands he be allowed to heave his greatsword. The DM allows it. The warrior roles really high and as a result the DM claims the greatsword flew over the carriage and kills the goblin leader, scaring off all of his minions.
What was a party of 5 is now a party of 2 because the dumb ***** thought that chaotic meant being "LIEK TOTALLY RANDOM XD ^_^"

I could get you one of those within three hours. Just don't ask where it came from... better yet, just don't ask anything about the dagger period. Could even get it in one hour if you aren't one of those "pacifist" druids... just might have to wash the blood out a little.Fishtie said:

Consequences are of no issue, I know people who know people who can pull some strings and call some favors. That being if the law could even find any solid evidence of my involvement in the first place outside of potentially "it fits his style", and it would severely hurt my reputation if they did, so I would try to avoid that in this universe.Fishtie said:

However, if you have adventuring parties, it implies that there are plenty of monsters that need killing around, and that the government authorities aren't up to it. In which case you'd expect society is on the verge of collapsing, and the infrastructure wont last.
If society and the infrastructure remains stable, I don't think it'd make a difference. I'm using a magic box created from the fossilised remains of pre-historic forests that were home to bizarre beasts long since dead which have become buried and not seen sunlight for millions of years. C'mon, don't listen to microsoft, that's just magic.
