I'd like to start out by saying that this is NOT a "***** about Modern Warfare 2" thread (well it actually is, but not in the same way).

I'd also like to say that before you comment please, PLEASE read the ENTIRETY of the post.

Read the title to figure out what it's about.

I will go through each mode, and then each mode by subcategory.

WALL OF TEXT WARNING.

CAMPAIGN:
Overall, campaign isn't TOO bad. However, a couple things are just annoying as hell.
1) On Veteran the AI is stupid as fuck, both for enemies and allies. I was expecting that on Veteran the AI would be much harder than on Hardened, thus I would die more. Unfortunately, the latter was true. They were so much more stupid I died more.

2) Level design is based around the principle that you will die. It's trial and error. Trial and error tends not to make for a good shooter.

That's all I have to say about that.

SPEC OPS:
The same problem of stupid AI applies here also but level design is forgivable because it SHOULD be a trial and error thing. Do it a couple times, find out the best way to do it.

MULTIPLAYER:
The big daddy. The only way I have of describing it in less than a sentence is "A massive, confused, jumbled up writhing orgy of shit, suck and ass."
1) Assault rifles dominate every other class BY FAR.
1.a) They have NO sway, have very high accuracy and damage and in general make the other guns shit in comparison.
1.b) Did I mention no sway?

2) Other weapons are inferior to assault rifles BY FAR.
2.a) Sniper rifles. They have a ton of sway, even when prone. Also, you can't hit someone less than 10 feet away because for some reason if your not looking down the scope it has a tendency to shoot about 20 degrees off. Additionally, there seems to be some MAJOR, MAJOR hit detection issues with them (and a decent amount of other guns but I experience it more with snipers). A bipod attachment would also be nice (you can infer what bonuses that would have).
2.b) Sub-Machine guns would seem like a decent competitor but they unfortunately suffer from a lack of attachments (I'm looking at you, heartbeat sensor). The issues with these are pretty apparent but not as important.
2.c) Large machine guns really don't seem to do what they are supposed to. In real life they are meant for suppressing an area for extended periods of time. I've been killed one too many times by a guy darting right in the middle of my machine gun fire and shooting me. Fire rate is seems too slow.
2.d) Riot shield is fine but completely pointless. 50 caliber snipers should be able to punch through them though.

3) Shotguns. Those. Fucking. Shotguns.
3.a) I know the 1887's are getting patched so I won't bother discussing those.
3.b) Get rid of either Akimbo or FMJ for them. If you do that then increasing the range might not be out of the question.

4) Pistols suck.
4.a) No seriously. They suck.
4.b) The USP and M9 can stay where they are because I have no qualms with them. HOWEVER...
4.c) The .44 and the Desert Eagle. They are weaker than motherfuckers. In reality, both fire bullets that are VERY powerful. Just make them stronger and maybe add some more recoil and were cool. (If you've ever played CS then you might know why I think its weak).
4.d) ADD SOME DAMN SCOPE ATTACHMENTS.

5) Knifing.
5.a) I would like to point out that I. HATE. KNIFING.
5.b) Make it slower. For gods sake, make it slower.
5.c) Get rid of commando. All it does is make it easier for those douchebags that run around and knife all the time.

6) The whole "I shot him 5 times then he killed/knifed me" deal.
6.a) If you are hit make it so that you flinch or lose accuracy.
6.b) If you are hit make it so that YOU CAN'T KNIFE. Have you ever tried stabbing someone with 3 bullets in your torso? It's not easy.
6.c) Both of those when you are in Last/Final stand. I swear to god. If that happens one more time...

7) Matchmaking
7.a) More specifically, how you get into a match, how it is setup and such.
7.b) Make it so you can choose what kind of game you want (e.g. "Look for games that: good connection, on X map, has X rules, etc").
7.c) Balance the teams out. Isn't it annoying going up against a team of seven 10th prestiged players and your playing with a bunch of 10 year olds? This happens to much.

8) The maps.
8.a) The maps that are good: Afghan, Derail, Skidrow, Invasion, Terminal, Sub Base, Wasteland, Underpass. Why? Sure you can camp, sure you can run around and knife, but at least they are avoidable. Oh, and the spawns don't suck too much (see #9).
8.b) Maps that are bad: Estate, Favela, Highrise, Karachi, Rust, Scrapyard. They are either too small, have horrible choke points, are too campy, too linear or otherwise encourages "asshole" tactics (you know what I mean). Oh, and spawns suck.
8.c) Maps that are neither good or bad: Quarry, Rundown. These maps ARE campy, they DO allow you to run around and knife, but the spawns don't suck.

9) Spawns.
I think we all know what's wrong with these so I won't go into deep detail. But in a nutshell: Spawn far away from where died. This will prevent so many frustrating deaths.

10) Kill/Deathstreaks
10.a) Get rid of air strike that comes with Harrier. It just makes a powerful killstreak even more powerful.
10.b) Get rid of care packages (or at least make the best you can get a pave low.) Do not reward players so well for getting only 4 kills.
10.c) Get rid of death streaks. Completely. They are pointless and only serve to wipe the asses of players who suck.

Uh...

That's about all I have off the top of my head.

So do you agree, disagree, think I should stop bitching because I suck at the game, have more things that must be fixed, etc.

(I'm actually pretty good. I just don't like it very much).

The campaign isn't bad, just extremely short. Annoying if you someone like me who spends alot more time playing single player then multiplayer. For that reason alone, I prefered COD4.

Umm, in reality don't assult rifles dominate other guns by far?
And how do you carry around a heavy machine gun anyway, arn't those operated by 2 man teams?
Totally agree on the knifing though. And the riot shields.

I won't comment on Singleplayer, other than simply saying you died alot, therefore they succeeded in making Veteran harder.

Multiplayer points, I'll go through these until my head can't handle the complaints anymore.

1)Every other gun in the game is useful when used correctly. Assault Rifles are better than SMGs on a bunch of maps, but I rather use an SMG on Favela or HighRise than an Assault Rifle. Get better with the other guns.

2)...okay you split this up so much, but I'll just condense it. Sniper Rifle, use an ACOG scope for less sway. Don't use a sniper rifle on Favela and expect insane killstreaks.
Already explained SMGs.
MGs...don't use, don't care.
Riot Shield is fine...yet you want to make it even more useless? Just...just no.

3)Shotguns are fine the way they are. They aren't meant for long range in video games. Yes, the range is insignificant in games when compared to real life, but this is a game. And they are balanced within reason.

4)Pistols suck...but they are only meant to finish people off. Thats why its faster to switch to a pistol than say...reload again. Also, .44 and Desert Eagles can't be made any more powerful or else that would be another balance issue.

5)If you make knifing slower, than whats the point in it? Get rid of Commando and you've eliminated another strategy within the game. Thanks for dumbing down the game some more.

6)Last Stand and Final Stand are MEANT for the exact reason you complained about.
Everyone DOES flinch when they get shot in this game. Next time, aim down the sights while someone shoots you.

7)No.

8)Every game has maps that are good bad or neutral. Nothing you can do about it. Either leave the match or play it out. Don't expect to go 25-1 every game.

9)I can agree with this on certain maps. Terminal especially.

10)Death Streaks are not pointless. Simple as that. Steal care packages. Shoot down harriers or get cold blooded. Simple.

Depends on the situation. If assault rifles dominate ALL GUNS, ALL THE TIME then something has gone wrong.

I agree with almost everything on this list.
I play CSS and Tf2 but have played through the MW2 campaign at a mates house and have tried online.
My biggest gripe is probably the shotguns, THEY ARE HORRIBLE.
Knifing is lame, it should be a two shot kill and instant on backstab, like CSS.

Good points mostly.
I agree that the game is good, but it is full of suckage like this.

You know, we could fix that game, we really could. We could also throw in some Lombaxes, laser rifles, tasty cake, rainbows and sunshine, that kind of stuff. And then, to quote Yahtzee, "maybe my arse could sprout wings and fly me into space! "

In short, no-one's going to bother with fixing matchmaking system, and if you want balance... well, there's always Team Fortress 2.

Aww c'mon. You opened the can, why not shake the worms a bit.

Although it could probably be solved with that two-word PC specialty that those Devs hate. Not sure about the consoles though, options allowing a narrower specified selection are relatively good.

I have the game for the 360, so matchmaking is not a big deal for me. I feel bad for the PC people, but oh well. And it really isn't annoying when you go up against level 10 prestige people simply because they mostly just have no life. They may spend all their time playing the game, but when it comes down to it...they usually suck.

The point wasn't really that they were super far up in the progression but rather just team skill unbalance in general. Halo 3 did it really well with the whole "Skill Rank" thing. That was a good system.

And I'm playing on 360 too.

Add in the Stopping Power effect from Gears of War (i.e. player A rushing at player B will slow down if shot at).

Make Akimbo attachment for Rangers and 1887 require 150 kills, not that paltry 10 kills. Make those fuckers earn that shit.

Remove the Tactical Nuke Killstreak Perk. A single player owning DOESN'T IN ANYWAY MEAN THE MATCH HAS ALREADY BEEN DETERMINED AS WIN/LOSS.

Have more SMG/Sniper Rifle variation. Seriously, the Walther? That sniper is fucking 2 decades old. Put something like the McMillan Tac-50 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMillan_Tac-50]. That gun has the LONGEST RECORDED KILL RANGE OF ANY FUCKING GUN. And you brought back the P-90 AND Mini-Uzi? Try some more exotic guns like the Bizon:

The assualt rifles are meant to be "general use". That means for pretty much every distance, they're above average but not great. I've noticed that sub machine guns, while suffering accuracy, are a LOT better than assualt rifles up close (UMP 45 anyone?). I've noticed that LMG's have much more damage than assualt rifles but don't have the greatest accuracy and don't get the grenade/shotgun attachements. They also take longer to aim.

Sniper rifles though, I completely agree with. I don't have trouble with hit-connection so much, but the un-aimed crosshairs should not be so motherfucking gigantic, that is just stupid. I'm not saying make it so you can run around the map no-scoping everyone with one-shot kills, but SOMETHING to save me when I get rushed other than a shotgun that takes 20 minutes to switch to. And the sway vs. pretty much other gun is just ridiculous, snipers should be a little easier to aim. Note: I'm not whining because I'm bad with snipers. In fact, thats what use 90% of the time.

And I agree with the riot shield. I think it should be able to absorb, say, 5 or 6 times the damage of the player, then breaks. You should be able to carry a secondary pistol and be able to carry it with the riot shield.

I enjoyed the game until i began multiplayer. I absolutely loved it at first but the i relized all the dickish things people enjoy to do (i play team death mostly FYI), the camping is overly anoying and there is almost no way to get around it, there is always people who camp like dick heads and never leave, most people are only good because the camp in a high trafic area and nobody can get to them. The people who run around and knife make me furious, i would just have fun, and the sprinting is way to fast if you have lightweight and marathon, you can run even faster holding a care package, i do enjoy doing this every now and then but there are some people who do it constantly. The boosting with the mods and ranks is also stupid, what is the point of getting to 10th prestige by boosting, its not even entertaining, the spawning is absolutlly terrible, the combined COD4 and COD5's alful spawns together and still made it worse, if people amediatly rush then you switch spawns without even getting kills and i find people who camp at their own spawn so when you kill them they spawn behind you and kill you that pisses me off, now i have gotten to the point where people are care package glitching to get infinite care packages or emergency airdrops, and they just use the killstreaks to win the game, later im sure i will find many other problems with multiplayer but that is all i have for now

Commando really needs to stay, simply to add more variety to tier 3 perks, i don't hipfire, i don't take a minute to line up a shot, i can crouch to prevent my steps from making sound.

however the knife build does need to be adjusted a fraction, but the answer lies with marathon/lightweight. essentially balance them so that the speed it takes to get into range takes a fraction later, giving a slight larger reaction time window.

I don't mind when 1 guy is using it, but when over half both teams are doing it gets frustrating, but there is always the leave game option, or just using akimbo anything.

Multiplayer
1) Agreed. Assault rifles are way too good, people just unload into you with no penalty for just holding the trigger down while my SMG flies around like I have Parkinsons.
2d) Riot shields: I love/hate them. My first issue with them is that its melee is crap. When you go to melee someone it should have a stun or staggering effect. Most of the time I melee, and they just take a step to the side and blow me away or they just knife me through the damn shield when I go for the second strike. The bullet ricochet doesn't really work, I've tried it with friends and it does little to no damage. You also need to be able to wield a pistol with it like in counter strike, switching to your secondary is too slow and you just die. I also feel that the cover of the riot shield is really misrepresented to the user. I've watched a lot of kill cams and I've backed into a corner and people still manage to kill me. In theory I should have a perfect triangle of defense in a corner but they shield doesn't cover your full front unless crouched and pointing slightly upwards.
4) Pistols do indeed suck, when I was going for akimbo/tactical knife I noticed that way too many time they are incredibly inaccurate at any other range than pretty much point blank. Also it takes like 3+ shots a lot of times to take some one out. It almost becomes a joke, why bother to unload your clip into a guy for a kill when you have to pretty much be incredibly close to them, you might as well just knife them.

Some extras for me.
Ninja Perk: It sucks, barely any one uses it. Change it to something else please.
Scavenger: Makes tubers insane, seriously a tuber with 1 or 2 guys covering him can turn into a TF2 demoman.
Claymores: People who camp onto of them should die when it explodes. I'm a bit sick of rounding a corner and seeing a guy shooting at him and moving closer to make sure he doesn't escape and hearing that click and boom I'm dead he's fine.
c4: No one uses it (at least in deathmatches, I really haven't played much of anything else, though I never saw anyone use it in MWF1.
Latency issues: If too many people have largely differing pings or if everyone is at a lower than optimal ping end the game. Way too many times does the game turn into a nightmare because everyone is chopping all over the place, and the one host has a near perfect ping and rolls everyone.
Also some of the pro perk bonuses are odd. Hip fire gets longer breath? Those of us akimboing are really gonna use that...
I personally don't notice a difference in the marathon climb speed. I think it should make it an auto vault/climb over an object if I'm sprinting towards it.
