You can't compare developers the same way you compare each person's skill

It's silly ... how can you compare ID Software vs Nintendo , this is ridicolous (because none of those can lose, if one loses it's due to some weird rules). And obviously i could be explaining this for pages - but somebody that's actually calls him self a gamer should know this is not fair competition.

What the competition is even about ... is it about financial success, is is about quantitiy of games, is it about quality ? , about the amount of new IPs, about the quarter earnings success ? Seriously ... companies are so diverese and both Id Software and Nintendo have immensly contributed to the whole industry without them there wouldn't be no half of developers on that list, there wouldn't be no infinity ward's call of duty (started on quake3 engine)... i could go on and on ...

This is just PR marketing for kids to participate in a hits-buzz contest that's completely meaningless to the industry at large.

Thanks for your useless contributions to the gaming industry - mainstream gaming news sites that only do stuff for their private profit while spreading unhealthy industry buzz/drama and blatant misinformation. Good job.

Honest subjective opinion - locking/deleting this topic will make you a free speech violator, and re-confirming the allegations above.

It's just a popularity contest the escapist holds. It doesn't mean anything. If you don't like then just don't participate. I want to take part but have no idea how and are not bothered enough to find out, it doesn't affect me at all.

You also can compare developers, for example a popular one is Valve vs EA. Valve being most peoples example of the best kind of developer and EA being the worst.

It is a joke, what'd you expect?

People vote for what they want to, with pretty bad match ups.

That's how Mojang won.

The problem is that the starting positions for the 1 round were totally randomly selected ... and you end up with some that work and some that don't.

It's a popularity contest . It has no meaning . No need to take it so seriously , it's the escapist version of prom king and queen ( although some people take those seriously for no reason).

I personally will no participate or even view the event winners . Now , if we had the head developper of each company face of in a cage match to the death however ...

Capcha: panic stations . EVERYONE TO THEIR PANIC STATIONS , SHIT'S GETTING REAL!

It's a popularity contest, really. And i haven't seen it presented as anything else, so i'm fine with it.

It's just a popularity contest which means it's almost always going to have a similar result and basically means nothing besides popularity.

Of course its pointless. Its not like we're going to kill off the developers that loose. Although it would be a fitting end for a few of them. You can always choose to disagree.

Why are you bothered by this? Seriously, why? Escapist has been doing the March Mayhem for years. It's for the lulz mostly, nothing more. It's a slight popularity contest and that's all. People fill out their brackets, do some voting, a few of them win some prizes. Nobody was affected negatively in any way and some people might have had a bit of fun. So why whine about it?
