This is why I'm happy with Heroes of the Storm. Simpler, more straight-forward, and the only time I've ever reported someone is when they said they weren't going to do anything (as in just sit at base) because they were upset with the team's performance.

But then again I haven't gotten to Ranked yet...

This is a very specific joke guys.
Again, how is "Do something stupid, then blame others for it?" a specific joke?
Because people who don't play MOBAs probably don't know what "report mid" means.
People know what reporting means, it's not hard to guess that "mid" is short for "middle" and even if you never played any MOBA at all (like me) you still know at least that there are three lanes, so they can easily conclude what "report mid" means.

And even if you don't know what "mid" in this context means, you WILL know what "report" means and THAT is enough to understand the joke already.

Having never played a MOBA, my first thought was that "report" referred to reporting a bug (so she was complaining to the universe in general about there being a lamppost in her way, as if it was a bug). The "mid" bit made me assume I was probably missing a DotA-specific joke, so headed for the comments.

Having got here, I'm intrigued (and a little depressed) by the idea of actually reporting teammates for not playing well enough to bail you out. Back-in-my-day we reported the other team, complaining that they were cheating somehow. ;)

You only get limited numbers of reports and because (at least as far as I'm aware) DOTA2 is largely server side stuff like claims of maphacks aren't possible, and frankly there aren't that many ways you could cheat that I can think of anyway. So generally speaking people report teammates for feeding instead or just being bad. :)

If you want the reporting the other team experience you need to go to CSGO. Because if you lose a game then clearly their top fragger is hacking. Either an aimbot or a wallhack. Or maybe an auto-clicker. X-D

(Although annoyingly there actually has been a genuine uptick in wallhackers in CSGO lately. I think there's a new one out or something. :-\ )

I have no interest in or familiarity with MOBAs at all, so, why would I guess that "mid" means "middle", or even if I did, know what the significance of "middle" is? Making your punchline a piece of random jargon just doesn't work unless you only want a specific audience to get the joke.

I assume the joke is funny / makes sense if you play DOTA2... or LoL for that matter.
Otherwise, yeah, totally lost on me.
Uh, how can you not understand this joke? Erin makes a mistake by running into a lamp post and then blames it on the lamp post, telling everyone to report the lamp post.
As evidenced by my earlier statement, I don't play any MOBA. Didn't get the reference or how it was being used in this situation. No context existed for me to understand the joke.
What context do you need for "do something dumb, then blame other people for it"?
Given that until this comic I have NEVER SEEN the phrase "report mid" anywhere, I had NO idea what the hell that actually meant. Without context, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. How hard is it to really understand how I don't understand it?
