I'll believe that the earth is hollow before I believe the earth is flat. Yes there is such as thing as people beliving that the earth is hollow and that aliens live inside.

Waaaait, is there actually any passage in the bible that states the earth is flat? is that even a topic covered in the bible in any way? I think Id remember something like that... Though I did skip the boring bits, which was most of it.

We've known for a long time that the earth is round. The ancient greeks knew it, the vikings knew it, medieval sailors knew it and we know it. It's just retards that refuse to know it because their brain is flat.
The sphericity of the Earth was established by Hellenistic astronomy in the 3rd century BCE, and the earliest terrestrial globe appeared from that period. The earliest known example is the one constructed by Crates of Mallus in Cilicia (now Çukurova in modern-day Turkey), in the mid-2nd century BCE.[1]
No terrestrial globes from Antiquity or the Middle Ages have survived. An example of a surviving celestial globe is part of a Hellenistic sculpture, called the Farnese Atlas, surviving in a 2nd century AD Roman copy in the Naples Museum, Naples, Italy.[2]
Early terrestrial globes depicting the entirety of the Old World were constructed in the Islamic Golden Age. One such example was constructed in the 9th century by Muslim geographers and cartographers working under the Abbasid caliph, Al-Ma'mun.[3][4] Another example was the terrestrial globe introduced to Beijing by the Persian astronomer, Jamal ad-Din, in 1267.[5] Wikipedia

It's true, though, that the earth isn't round.

It's an oblate spheroid [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblate_spheroid]--it bulges very, very slightly at the equator.

i think the only passages are ones that mention the earth being a circle or having corners or edges. the edges one sounds a bit iffy to me. you cant shake someone off the edge of the world.

Did anyone else think of something different when they read "Get high"?
yeah, I thought they were about to promote drug use. maybe something like: take drugs, you'll hallucinate. the earth will seem to go all wavery, but because you're hallucinating you will later know that it is in truth flat. then they brought up mountains.

This is completely satirical. You can tell by the way they mention "gravity". It is actually hilarious as hell.

People believed the earth was spherical before the bible was created, in fact the first recorded person to think this was in Mesopotamia one of the first civilizations. One of these arguments is to show the you fall straight back down then in the other it disregards his first point. I don't need to be here he is pointing out the flaws himself.

i suspect the source in the OP is a deliberate prank to make people believe that some people actually believe the world is flat
hopefully it's just satirising old school fools

nobody ACTUALLY believes the earth is flat
and perhaps some people of earth do, but if they exist they're probably people with no access to modern culture or scientific discovery of any kind I.E. as yet undiscovered tribes

I like the jump part, because the Earth is so large that the 1000mph isn't really enough to effect us xD...

Unless we could perform a single one hour long jump...
ummmm dude your not as wrong as the flat earth guys but your wrong.
we are currently moving at the same speed of earth and thus even if we jump for month we would still land in the same place. This is also true since even air is moving at the speed of the earth and thus you would not be effected by air resistance.

proof: helicopters. they can float in the same place by doing only a downward force for hours and they would still land in same place.

Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

From: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?s=b73fcaf65a852019c3f841bc6107956b&t=45427

Now for discussion, does anyone on the Escapist believe the Earth is flat or how to prove either theory correct without a shadow of doubt.
Two things. Landover baptist is a joke. LITERALLY.

It's satire.

The funniest part is that centrifugal force doesn't actually exist. There is centripetal force, but no centrifugal force.

Yeah I think this is a site meant to ridicule creationists. Im a Creationist myself & its the most common mockery used, if you dont believe in evolution then you dont believe in gravity or you believe the earth is flat.

First of all the Bible says no such thing about a flat earth.

Second, we wont land further away from the spot we jump from because of we have the momentum of the earth. You can try this by dropping something from a car window, it will fall at an angle down forwards due to the momentum & gravity (Preferably a heavy object as wind resistance may fudge the experiment)

Third,In space there is no up or down. We Australians dont fall off the surface of the earth but towards the centre Just like everyone else on the planet.

Forth, the piece of paper falls off because the earths gravity is by far stronger than what any balloon with dismal mass could produce in comparisson.

And fifth, on a much smaller planet we may see the horizon but earth is so huge the surface feels flat & if it were flat then we should be able to see every other country with powerful telescopes rather than with satellites.

Sadly though I wouldnt put it past some people in the world that would believe such things.

So wait, that means if I wanted to fly round the world, I would just disappear from one side and appear the other?
In a PacMan way?

Wow :D

Simple Explanation is Simple.

The Earth isn't flat. There are pointy bits on it. :p
