I've been surfing around the Net looking for plug-ins for Oblivion, but it's all so cluttered and there seems to be hundreds of mods.

Do any of you Escapists know of a really good site with plug-ins for Oblivion that include descriptions, screen-shots, and is organized? I could search it out myself but I thought that asking you folks would be a LOT easier.

So far I've been using the Construction Set and, with the aid of the tutorial on Wiki (which I think is absolutely fantastic as it's very easy to understand, thanks to the instructive talent of Tom Dawson), I've managed to get my head around simple things like creating a house, and inserting a world with a door to it somewhere. It's so easy, so much fun, and really rewarding. But I don't want to get too much into modding yet before I see lots of good mods and play them.

Thanks a lot for any pointers to really good sites, folks. I really appreciate it.

TES Nexus, iirc.

http://www.tesnexus.com/

That's where I went for a few Morrowind mods, at least.

I adore the vanilla version too much to mod heavily. AND I HATE PEOPLE WHO ADD THOSE STUPID LEVELING SYSTEM PATCHES. The leveling system is perfectly fine.

There's also this [http://www.theelderscrolls.info/?go=dlfile&fileid=219] website.
Well, the mod I linked is the only one on there I found to be any good. To navigate the website you might need to use Google Translate, but mods should say if they're only in German.

The leveling system isn't fine. But all it needs is a level cap on enemies. I do like the "raise 10 skills and level up" system, never had any problems with it, only the lack of an enemy level limit was annoying.

I ditto that website. A good suggestion is to pick a category and then sort by recomendations or downloads. It will certainly help filter out the crap.

This is great, everybody. Thanks so much! I'll try the few that you've all suggested.

About that leveling system: I didn't know the enemies just kept leveling. . . . how does that work?

As a Mage, I first brought my Majors Skills of Destruction, Alteration, and Alchemy to 100, then I would be sure to level up other Minor Skills like Heavy Armor, Blade, and others just to get my other Attributes up. Now I'm level 45 (I made sure not to level up any skills in the sewers at the beginning, before I had a class picked), with of course 100 in all the magics which are my Majors, 100 in Blade, Blunt, Heavy and Light Armor, Block, and Armorer, and also 95 Agility, 70-something Personality, and the others all 100 . . . oh, except Luck of course, which is 53 or something. I must say I'm QUITE happy with that leveling system.

Just as an aside: Any of you guys ever get ALL your Attributes at 100? I found Agility hard because I tend to use Alteration to open locks and charge into battle instead of sneaking, and as fun as arrows are they piss me off sometimes as I hate using stuff that might run out (even if it almost never does, like with Azura's Star I still don't bother with enchanted weapons just because I see the charge running down and it makes me nervous). I found Personality hard to get up too near the end, running around the world looking for people that don't like me so they already don't have max disposition just to Speechcraft them up, selling crap like crazy, etc.

I would also suggest asking around the official bethesda forums for Oblivion.

Whenever someone does they get recommended some fantastic mods.
