Lately on the Escapist I've been having pop-up banner ads for the Elder Scrolls Online beta taking up about the lower 1/3 of my screen. I've got no problem with this in general terms; the Escapist needs the ad revenue, I'm not paying them for the Pub Club, and there are plenty of people on the Escapist who probably care about it.
My issue is that I am seeing the ad on every page. Literally every page on the Escapist I open (videos, forums, news) has one of these ads, and though I may close one each successive page brings me another. On other sites, I only see pop-up ads like that on the home page, or if you close one they don't reappear for the rest of the session.
I'm just wondering, is this something I did? Do I need to reconfigure my computer or browser (Chrome) to stop the constant barrage? Or is this part of an poorly thought-out but deliberate ad campaign? Thank you for any responses.
P.S. I think this article is above board vis a vis the Code of Conduct and talking about the Escapist's actions, but I urge people not to mention Adblock.
