Hello Escapists!

A little while ago I finished reading Yahtzees Extra Punctuation. He talked a bit about the devolving of games, and mentioned that indies are fine. After that I stumbled upon a nifty little game while reading my favorite norwegian gaming site.

The game is called The End. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to it, so I wont but if you want to try it you can just google play the end.com and you'll find it pretty easily :>

The game itself starts after you create your avatar, and is simple platforming sprinkled with some collection. Then there are boss-battles that turn out to be some kind of numerical puzzle. I'm not sure if this is original, or if this mini-game exists elsewhere but it worked out nicely.

The main draw about the game though, and what I liked about it is that it asks questions, and it doesnt answer them. In every level you will be asked a philosophical/ethical question, and you will exit the level according to your own answer. After doing this you will be greeted with a tiny text on the topic, percentages of what other people have answered and links to more material on the topic along with famous people that might have thought this way before.

I got to say, it has been a long time since a game has presented me with so interesting choices. When deciding it feels less like exiting the level, and more like coming to terms with yourself and how you view the world. I might take this more serious than most, but I was surprised at how much time I could actually spend just staring at the questions and trying to decide how I feel.

It was a valuable experience, and anyone with a bit of time on their hands, wanting to think and maybe learn a bit should check it out.

Also, for a bit of discussion value:

If you have played it; did you like it?

And, I repeat one of the questions in the game to you: Do you believe in fate? Why/why not? I haven't managed to decide yet so I'm stuck on that level :|

Haven't heard of it til now, but it sounds like it's worth checking out. If I do, hopefully I'll remember to get back here and share my thoughts.
