"I don't have a phone." Edge said, stepping inside.
So he's a member of The Rising Dawn. Edge thought, as Ryan rambled on.
Or...was.
Of all the things Edge had been expecting when he came here, the one thing he had
not been expecting was...some...scrawny, blonde-ish college-age hipster. Someone who seemed almost
normal. Then again, since Boss was a scrawny, college-age, wannabe beatnick, he was willing to withhold his judgement for the time being.
Edge shook his head as he sat down. "No, I don't know...Annie, was it? And I don't know you, either. And while I'm curious as to how you knew I was a member of The Rising Dawn, I-"
"
Well, you're not a student." Ryan said. "
And pizza guys don't usually carry around swords. And I figured that The Rising Dawn would be around to at least visit after a while, so..."
Edge scratched his head, trying to work out the best way to explain it. "My name is Edge. The bartender on The Rising Dawn-a tall man named Luke-brought me here because I told him I needed someone to help train a friend of mine before he ends up hurting himself, or someone-" Edge shook his head. "No, that's not even true. He's already hurt himself; he nearly got himself killed fighting this leech...tentacle...thing over the ocean a few months ago."
"I thought I could train him myself, but I'm in
way over my head." Edge sighed and rubbed his face. "Of course, none of this matters if the bartender sent me to the wrong place, or if I happened to knock on the wrong door. So...can you help me? Or can someone you know help me?"
"Of course I will." Ryan bluntly said, leaving Edge blankly sitting there. He didn't expect the ex-Rising Dawn member to agree on such terms without question, let alone without hesitation in the least.
Edge nodded, and tented his fingers. "Is there some kind of catch?"
"Pppft, no catch or some sort of favor you must return. Think of it as me doing the Rising Dawn a favor for ditching them during an important part of their lives. I'm also not the kind of guy to risk denying a ninja help when he can easily behead me.. haha."
Taking a seat, Ryan spun in his chair once before giving Edge his full attention, leaning forward with his chin relaxing on his united hands.
"You came to the right place, i'll tell you that much. But it's not me who's capable of helping your friend out. No, i'm not the dude who holds any sort of psychic ability. Rather, you're going to need me to escort you to Faith."
A short pause, Edge wondering who exactly this Faith was."...You'll have to forgive me, but I don't recall a 'Faith' being on the Rising Dawn, either. What kind of person is she?"
"Won't lie, Faith isn't human. She's a Pokemon known as a Gardevoir, like your friend Jenny... except, she's Shiny [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Shiny_Pok%C3%A9mon]. Like, one of those extremely rare breed of Pokemon that comes out a different color scheme from their particular race."
"But unlike Jenny, Faith has... mastered her capabilities. She's one of the most skilled psychic types in the Hoenn region if not the world. She alone, bested the Elite 4 along with their previous Pokemon League Champion... and not only took out a dangerous Legendary Pokemon, but fought another Legendary in space to prevent mass destruction. Ryan expressed, looking upwards at his own ceiling ... lost in his train of thought.
She's someone I never imagined having around, plus she can communicate with people using her mind over the vocal cord... so .. like, she can talk to you through mental communication over words ... does that make sense? I kind of ramble on, bad habit of mine.. sorry."
Edge nodded. "Is there any way I could speak with your friend Faith? Right now? There are certain...issues with me, that might end up being problems for that plan, and she can probably explain it better than me."
"Right now, as in... now, now? Alrighty, shouldn't be a problem actually. While it'd be nearly impossible for a Rising Dawn member to perform this, i'm an author from the real world. We break the rules, with red tape here and there. But I can surpass that with my limits. .. ..."
Ryan excused himself from the black chair, and walked in the middle of his living room. He cuffed his hands together, like if he was praying... yet, he wasn't. Instead, the room's air became slightly thicker and had tiny vibrations of heat strokes echoing through, visible to the naked eye. The author took a slow, relaxing sigh before closing his eyes.
". .. Don't you love having - hmmm .... to focus this heavily? .. I like the idea of having to take- hhaha.. ahh ... forever in summoning someone, and how exhausting it truly is. .. ahah, ahha.. ok."
Edge noticed how Ryan's nose had a drop of blood rush downward, across his lips and escaping onto the cushy floor beneath him. Suddenly, wind started to pick up in the room which caused the sheets and clothing in the closest to flap along the current ... only for Ryan to cry out,
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!! (Summoning Technique)"
Ryan went for his thumb- biting the edge of it, making it leak blood- only to press his thumb against the other hand's palm... and bring it against the floor. Spirals, perhaps a ritual or alchemy of some sort formed, Edge's eyes seeing flickering blue streams across the blackened symbols before a flash appeared- blinding him for a second.
When Edge recovered from it, he noticed there was someone else in the room now. A slim, tall humanoid looking thing with skyblue skin and orange eyes was staring back at his. She seemed rather stumped as to what's happening, taking a blink or two before looking left-to-right in a confused manner.
That is, until Ryan spoke which caught her attention on the go.
". .. Aahhoouuu ... yea that isn't easy, even with my capabilities. But here you have it. Edge, I would like you to meet Faith." Ryan got back up, brushing his shirt from getting all wrinkled, only to stop and slowly peer with horror over Faith's direction.
She had the biggest, cheesiest smile before glumping him .. nearly making Ryan fall back.
"Whhaaoo- okay, okay! It's super good to see you too Faith! Alright, yea i'm hyped seeing you sweetheart." Only after, she kissed him upon the cheek with warmed up eyes, hugging him closer. That is, until Ryan communicated with her via thoughts.
"Love your affection, but ... we've got company. See that ninja-"
".. Don't hide the truth from him. It doesn't hurt to tell people that you're close to me.."
". .. C-come now Faith. It's taboo for people to see us like that ya know? Heck i'm sorry, just gotta respect my fellow crew members."
Even though Edge couldn't understand what they were saying (let alone know they were actually talking mentally), he noticed Faith making a puffy 'angry' face with her cheeks bloated and mouth all wiggled ... her hug becoming a bear hug, Ryan yelping in fear of her physical strength.
"You're such a jerk... that hurts Ryan. Just because you're my trainer, doesn't mean you can treat me like-"
".. I'm sorry."
Ryan kissed her on the forehead, making her freeze ... only to blush afterwards. She then had an expression like her heart just melted, and remained hugging the author with no intent on stopping.
There was an awkward pause as Ryan glanced back at Edge, giving off an embarrassed smile.
