The Escapist Awards?

On the last tight-knit community forum I went on (you know what I mean, a forum that isn't GameFaqs) we had 'The Awards'. Bascically, there were a number of categories and people just voted who should get said award. I was wondering if this would be a good idea on The Escapist? From what I've seen people love talking about themselves, (I joke. Or do I?) and it's just a bit of self-congratulatory fun.

So, if people think this is a good idea, I came up with a few categories. You don't have to vote for someone or something in every category, just copy and paste the ones you want to do and leave your nominations.

Also, if anyone has any categories they think would be good, leave them here!

I like this idea, but I don't know enough about the community to nominate people for anything. Just thought I'd voice some support :3

Tight Knit community?

Anyway, this seems like a bad idea 'cause it'll make some people feel bad, and we can't have that, not on the internet.

Most people here already have staggering egos. Boosting them more may be catastrophic.

Problem with that is that people would say that we stole the idea from someone else.

It's not a bad idea, but I get the sense that people will nominate others not because they genuinely think they're the best [whatever], but because they want to suck up to that person or whatever.
By that logic, you'd win.

Because as we all know that arbritary forum that I got this idea off invented the concept of awards.

I'm definately voting for you... for something or other.

But, for the best new member, I nominate Rishtaka [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Rishtaka]
Why? Because they were the newest member on the list when I looked.

Actually, I think that he, NoMoreSanity, and Neonbob would be vying for 1st place together.
Wait...why would I want to be in first place again?
People try to kill the top person.
I've had enough of that.

I forgot what the plan was, but it was damned good.
I found your problem.
You're welcome.

As for the topic: if you had a good amount of organization behind this idea, it could work out quite nicely.

This should easily go to that Sukiaki IRL chick. I think she is still on probation right now but her posts are hilarious.

Sadly I wouldn't know how to go about this since I'd imagine that it'd all decend into... this.

My suggestion?
If you space it out, you might be able to get away with making a thread per day, with a request to the mods to lock it after that day was up.
Have people nominate their favorite_____.
Then go through it.
[sup]This stuff was thought up by Portal Maniac and I when we thought about this...:-/[/sup]

And what were you expecting?
I mean, you're pretty much inviting some chaos.
:p

Agreed. Either because they are popular, well known, a long-time member of influential.

Eh... This just hasn't got the red-carpet feeling of the Ultras. Search for that - it was an actual Escapist Awards Ceremony/Best Derailed Thread ever combatant with the Ducks! thread.

Aha! More proof of the thread drought!

Have you or have you not felt the there has been a lack of interesting or conversation-spawning threads lately? Max and I agree, this place seems to be getting boringer and boringer.
