I remember a while ago, the first thread I made was called Nurse Joy = Satanist. Of course, it was a joke. I also remember scrolling down the responses, and laughing at how may people took me seriously.
There's a guy on The Escapist, who will remain anonymous, who's a total tight-ass. He doesn't take anything as a joke.
Now, I wonder: Why do these people join a website called The Escapist if they want to stay in the real world? It's called The fucking ESCAPIST, guys, not The Realist.
So, I suppose the question of the day is, do you stay serious on The Escapist, or not? And why?
Please reply.

Serious?

This... Is... Escapist!

I'm pretty much the way I usually am, which I would put somewhere halfway between the two.

I loved that thread, anyway yeah. I act how I always act. I can tell if someone is serious or not(and when I can't I keep my mouth shut)

Yeah, but I hate the people who act like total tightwads.

Oh, you made that? That was fun... I think. My memory is a tad hazy.

Yea, you'd think people would be able to read, neh?

You made that!
Man, that was a funny ass thread.

But I agree. People here need to lighten up and come down from the pedestal they think they're on.

Depends on the subject. If it's a touchy one, I will stay serious. If it's a joke, then more jokes are required.

The term Ethcapist doethn't refer to an actual break from reality. It'th a referenthe to the same term uthed to dethcribe immersion exthperienthed playing gameth. Ath thuch all topicth game related should be taken literally. Itth jutht locical.

Why do you think I'm seen in the Forum Games?
I love coming here to joke around. On certain topics, yeah sure, I'll be serious on them but most of the topics I go to are funny and giving a serious answer would just be weird.

Near enough this, it's pretty subjective. It's nice to escape and be yourself to the max (or not in some cases). But on certain subjects you really have to know when something is a joke and when something is serious.

People aren't going to simply drop everything in their lives and start a clean slate each time they log on. If someone feels pissed then that's going to reflect in their posts, as it is if they're tired or they've just been letdown/ sacked (fired)/ lost someone or for that matter anything which can make an emotional impact. Being honest I've stopped myself posting a few times when I've been annoyed by something IRL and wrote posts I know I'd regret later on.
Plus a name is a name, I could go into a pub called the Foresters and I know I wouldn't have to lop down a tree to get a drink. I'd of imagined the Escapist was named so because of the 'Escapisim' element you get from playing games? Hence why it's a gaming site?

Hang on...This isnt me is it?

To be honest, I think 4chan is for "i dont give a shizz" escapism, If you want to post random pictures of Cacti on a website, Theres the place.

Although we're called the escapist, There are still limits.

For that guy, his attitude on the Escapist is his form of Escapism.
Some days I go for complete silliness, others complete realism, and many some weird mix.

It's a very rare thing when I'm completely serious.
After all, I do reside mostly in the forum games.
Plus, I like to babble, which is something I cannot really do in reality without people looking at me strangely and trying to restrain me.
Their loss!
