What stops us from sending snail mails just because we're from different countries?
I mean it takes like 3-5 days to ship a package from Finland to Italy or England so snail mail shouldn't be any longer than that right?

I personally never had a snail mail pal during my early school years, was close to getting one but the teamwork between schools was delayed.

Well, I figured that it would be easier for people to do it via E-mail. That and I don't know much about international mailing.

But gratz for the idea, it'd be nice with some PMs (don't read PMS) or e-mail from a random stranger xD
But I think PM would be a nice starter and maybe later into e-mailing if the interest with the person holds.

I agree about the PM, then E-mail/IM and Mail if you feel secure enough. It's all the about the options and everyone feeling comfortable. Also, I'd love anyone willing to help me out and give out ideas.

It's a good idea OP but i think your idea needs some structure- how about we fill out a few key details about ourselves in this kind of manner?

One could follow my example here:

Age: 21
Nationality: British
Education Level: University (Lancaster University)
Jobs/Careers: Tour Guiding, student newspaper editor
Interests/Sports and Hobbies: history, politics, comedy, foreign cultures, reading (gaming is a given one here really isn't it?) anime, alcoholic beverages, foreign languages and creative writing.

Any other relevant information:

Would happily hear from any UK Escapists applying for university in this country seeking advise about university life, or anyone from anywhere wanting to discuss UK/European politics and culture.

I'm considering setting up a user group, (as some have suggested.) It makes it easier to keep track of people and also know how is absolutely interested in being PMed and later Email-IM if it grows into a friendship.

I'd love to have some help as I'm only one person of average intelligence.

Hello there, friends!

I've noticed that I hardly ever get good stuff in E-Mail or via snail-mail and was kind of reminiscing about the days of having a pen-pal in grade school.

So, anyone else craving this sort of thing? Of course since we're of various nationalities it would be to be of via E-Mail/PM but I still think it'd be pretty awesome.

(There is PM, but I hardly PM someone randomly)

Knowing the UK postal service, sending anything internationally is going to get very expensive very quickly. Plus, my handwriting is barely legible at the best of times, so I'd prefer to do it over the Interwebs if at all possible

Those are my thoughts too, although the part me that says "OH GOD PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW HOW DO I TALK WITH THEM" is much larger and louder.

Ooh, I know the feeling. My friends use to joke that the only reason I got high marks in English was because our teacher couldn't read my itty-bitty cursive. (My signature is the bomb though )
