Good evening (or morning or whatever), Escapists, I was just wondering, how long can you hold the plank for? This is a simple exercise which can prove quite tough, and is exceptionally good at building up your 'core' muscles (back, abs etc). Just give it a go, and keep your back straight. I've been doing it every night for a year, and can just manage 10 minutes.

Here it is:

And yes I know this isn't a body building website or anything, I'm just interested, alright?

Oh and if you can manage 3 minutes on your first try, you're doing well.

Well, I could go do it now..... which I will, and I'll get back to you.

Edit: So yeah, that's hard to do.........

ow ow ow ow ow.... roughly 45 seconds. I say that's damned good considering the amount of muscle I have.

10 minutes first try SUCK IT!

By the way, I didn't do it just now, it was a year or two ago.
Really? Either you're made of steel or you were doing it completely wrong. But whatever, for a first try, that is insane.

Admittedly, I'm being nice and all, but I don't believe you to be honest. Sorry.

32 minuets

I work out like a dog. This is probably my favorite ab and core developing exercise.

I can hold the seat position for over two hours.

Well, you better backhand your way to the Guiness Book of Records.

Hahaha.

not really, when I played football at my high school you had to hold this for 15 mins or you wouldn't get a water break.

I thought the title reffered to Planck's constant, ah well.

OT: a minute or so; I didn't really bother to sit the whole thing through though..... how impressively underwhelming

15 minutes? I've looked on bodybuilding forums, just to see how I stack up, and many cannot do it for more than 5 minutes. I currently hold the record at my gym. Honestly, a whole highschool football team doing it for 15 minutes is very hard to believe, honestly, you're probably thinking of a different exercise, or you were doing it wrong.

32 minutes seems beyond the limits of the human body. I demand a video.

Personally if I haven't any exercises with my arms beforehand I get to around 4-4 and a half mins if I remember right the last time I did it like that.

I'm a small, weak person.
2 minutes five seconds, Monday evening.

Gonna try for two and a half next week.

Eh, 1:30 seconds is my record. My former workout teacher had built us up for a near-consistent 40 seconds.
40 seconds of absolute misery.
I think I should get some credit, though, considering that I have a... fertile rear-end to hold up, let alone my breasts. XD

Really, I think a lot of people who are making claims upwards of four minutes may be doin it rong.

Wow we have some strong people up in here. I am fat; so I only like to do it to thirty seconds. I can probably go longer, but I don't because I want to have time to do side planks too.
