(Before you moan at me after you find a previous thread about the same topic: Yes, I did do a search! Can't see anything like it :p)

The Escapist. Found it by accident, and pretty much love at first sight. There seems to be an element of pride when I open up my browser and see the beautiful Escapist web page emanating from my screen.

Anything and everything I could ever want is here! I'm certain it?s the same for many of you. It instantly seems to welcome you into this close community ranging from avid, recreational and casual gamers. It kindly, selflessly entices me further into this niche of nerds (no offence, I am one of you!) offering us a huge and ever expanding range of features.

For example: Yahtzee, you always seem to say everything that needs to be said. You tickle your audience in that sophisticated but silly way, which just makes any day, no matter how crap or long, the best day ever.

You guys at Unskippable... simply genius! Schoolboy and innovative humor that makes me and many many others laugh 'till our sides hurt! I wish there was some merchandise for it! Harder than ZP I know, but maybe the logo? Obviously I get a cut if you like the idea ;)jokes. Or am I?

Forums. One of the few websites I've found that let the community speak their minds, freely, in a relaxed atmosphere. They're moderated to a perfect standard and I feel really give me a voice and somewhere to chat happily and confidently with my gaming peers and have a good debate and laugh.

Then there?s all the new browser game (haven't got around to playing it yet :S), news, reviews and previews! I'm kept well informed on the video game world now, and has helped me buy better and spend my precious gaming moments wisely! It develops them in a straight forwardly in a sensible manner. My previous experience of gaming sites, naming no names *cough* gamespot *cough* (hehehe they lost...) left me feeling pretty... bored and left in the dark.

Finally, well not the final thing on here, but the final feature I'm going to discuss is us readers. We 'mere' gaming readers really feel welcome here! We can discuss anything we want, even write a review! We have a true home here.

So in conclusion you guys at the escapist. Thank you. Your hard work really makes this website what it is! I love it here, and so do many others, we can just mingle and relax. I can't sit still when i think of what could be to come! Keep up the good work Escapist!

Wow, I agree with this. Anytime I need help with anything game-related, I come here and the readers always help me! It's nice to know that this magazine is here whenever we need it ^_^

Really?I greatly dislike this website because of all the flame wars*, tedious debating**, Yahtzee drones***, and overall average douches**** that seem to dwell here more than any other website I've seen.
Then why use it and sign up for an account and post in these forums?

*mods suspend/ban flamers

**just ignore it if you don't like it

***they tend to stop doing that if you tell them how tedious it is

****name one site that actually has a high count of intelligent people

No one's making you stay.

@OP: agreed with pretty much everything you said. This is one of the very few gaming websites where everything is of a consistently good standard; the community, the articles, the videos, it's all good!

I really do hope you're kidding, and if you're not, go back to 4Chan or whatever. That's all I have to say to you, I won't let you steal the OP's thunder.

OP: Yes, I agree. This is really the perfect site for me, great content, a superb community adn fantastic mods.

I would say out of the people I have met on The Escapist, 90% are THE BEST COMMUNITY EVER and 10% are Grammar Nazi's, Dicks, Yahtzee Whores and trolls.

That may be me, however.

I have a low opinion of humanity.

Screw you.I can say whatever the hell I want about this site.
It would seem as you're trying to insult me, but I honestly find this amusing. A troll trying to stand tall vastly outnumbered amongst a community he hates. Oh well, good luck my dear sir. I hope you've received the attention you desperately crave.

Good day to you.

I really like it here. If I wrote my reviews, and posted them on any other forum I go on, I'd get all the "Wow that was really good". Here, I get "This is absolute sh*t and here's why."

I much prefer constructive criticism to pointless praise. :)

A troll? No no sir.I never said I hated this community just that I dislike it.The people here are bearable it's just so many of them know how to bring out the raging fanboy in me.I'm use to being out numbered when it comes to issues whether is be online or not. It's not like any of you can do anything to me and I can't do anything to you so it's pointless in a way.
Well pardon me then, for mistaken you for a troll, but I couldn't help but notice your harsh selection of words which may be an indication of said personality.
However, if you dislike this community so merry much, why then, are you still here, replying to what's being said and contributing (in a way) to which community you don't enjoy? It's like voluntarily being around people you can't stand.

That is quite bewildering, I'd say.

Agree with OP on all fronts

One additional note: The quality of the weekly features and the system that is used to aquire source material (open to public, not just Escapist Staff) is just done so professionally (for the most part) that it gives me hope that somthing resembling journalism actually exists on the net, shock. Though keep in mind I did say "for the most part." There are always exceptions ;)

Hmm, I can't say my first experience with the community was very enlightening. I posted some info about a game in the discussion area trying to get people to discuss it. The second reply was OMG NO PROFILE INFO SPAM LOCK MODS HELP and the rest of the conversation, which happened in the 8 hours I was sleeping, was whether or not I was spamming the forums, with 1 person asking why no one was actually talking about the game.

So within hours of my very first post here I was accused of posting late at night when there were no mods around, posting a link to a game not officially endorsed by the website (I didn't know we could only discuss games that paid for advertizement here, can I get that list for future reference?), making a post without having set up my profile info first, making a post without having set up a user icon, and not being there to respond to the post I made after a 10 hour workday. Apparently 8 hours is just too damn long to wait for a reply before declaring me just another bot.

Yes Yahtzee's reviews are the sole reason I come to the site and yes Unskippable is entertaining but I don't forsee myself lingering in the forums much more here. Somehow I keep forgetting the internet adds balls and removes common sense, especially amongst gamers.

This thread should end all those Escapist reviews that clutter up the forum. It speaks the truth and just spreads the message of how caring and warm the escapist is.
