The Escapist technical problems

Has anyone notice today that the escapist has been incredibly slow, and very buggy.

Issues with my posts disappearing, pages disappearing, my PM notifications not appearing.

I wonder why this is? Have the moderators realised this yet? Surely I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.

I've got PM notifications constantly re-appearing, despite me deleting them, and not removing the un-read tag. It's really annoying when every few minutes I'll see that I have a new message, only for it to be the same one.

Also, I've been getting the "too busy to display thread" error quite a bit after I post.

Edit: And also, regardless of the fact that it is now 10:25 pm, the "Most Recent" posts on the main page have been sitting at 10:03 am all day.

I'm glad and sad that I'm not the only one going through this, the escapist has always been slow for me recently but today it's just terrible and I keep going back in time somehow because all the threads sometimes go to those at 5:30 am and its 5:40 pm for me now.

Edit: you know there's something wrong when you go to your profile and it says your offline when your logged on while looking at it.

Yes, it's mad. I made a thread in the morning that has phased in and out of existence ever since. As have some other posts, and PMs.

I'm sure they'll fix it up eventually.

My guess is either a UI overhaul or a huge event coming up. Either way, we'll see soon.

I've got it a few times recently, messages not disappearing from the inbox and often videos wont load. Irritating but not life threatening.

I've had issues with movies not loading, such as MovieBob's latest Escape to the Movies. I'm sure it'll sort itself out though.

Yes, im getting something akin to that.

My "latest posts" box from the main/news pages still show thread updates that are over 12 hours old at this time of writing.

And all the usual buggy posts.

Its probably connected to that silly hurricane in some way.

Maybe, I thought that was just going to be some new choose-your-own-adventure thing. I was actually thinking the MW3 info flooded our site with traffic or something. Y'know, CoD being pretty popular and all.

Yeah. Some threads randomly hop into a Delorean, get it up to 88 and go back in time a few hours. I commented on a thread just now. Before I commented, it had 20 something responses. After I posted, it had 3 responses.

Yeah, I've been getting that, and it's pretty damn annoying, especially since I'm one of those people who tries to read all of their messages.

It helps that I only really exclusively get quote messages, and even then, not really that many.

I'm kind of hoping we'll get an "Adopt a server hamster" action soon. The escapist could use the money and I always wanted to own my very own server hamster!

That should fix the issues right quick. Especially if they create a piece of code that'll generate random weekly reports on how your server hamster is doing! Maybe there'll even be functionality to name your hamster!

Yeah, that type of stuff has been happening to me all day today and some of yesterday too. Heck, the main page has been down for almost a week at this point. I think it might be related to that strange, uncommentable article from a day or so ago, but I am not sure.

I'm trying to post here purely because the Escapist hasn't actually let me post twice today, (and when I tried to edit the one post it removed it instead) and I'll get to appreciate the irony of not being able to post in this thread.


On the plus side, haven't be captchad for any of my none posts
