The Escapist University

So 'twas about a week ago when I woke up with a pleasant idea. What would life be like if The Escapist had its own university? Seems like a pretty nice concept to me, many like-minded people all studying together at the same place. The Escapist community is probably the tamest and most cooperative I've witnessed when it comes to forums, so how would a transition like this go? Would you attend? How would you envision it to be? A glorious utopia, tragic dystopia, or something altogether less dramatic?

For the sake of convenience, let's assume that the university teaches all courses in existence. Let's also pretend you're once again at the studying age if you're no longer involved with the education system.

I'd imagine it to be something like the OU, here in the UK. You could study over the internet, using resources on the site, and do a set amount of work per week, for example.

I've got my post-doc thesis topic: Chaos Theory Explained or How to Actually Get a Pearlescent Weapon in Borderlands (without cheating).

I would consider it.

But I like being on schools with lots of diversion, and lots of girls as opposed to 'some' girls.

It would be exactly the same uni that I went to years ago but this time the tutor is a lot nicer and I don't have to go to the lecture. (The course I took had no exams so it was course base progression for the grades and it was morning lessons so we got the rest of the day heading to the city centre so it was great for me).
Oh also the accommodation will be both nicer and cheaper were I don't get a freaky small room (seriously the three years on Uni I always end up with the smallest room since each room are in different sizes)

What do you mean, 'girls?' There are no girls on the Internet, much less girls on the Internet that play games! [/sarcastictroll]

OT: Eh, I dunno. I don't think I'd like it. Part of experiencing education is interacting with people who all don't have a similar mindset as you--differing opinions are the things that broaden horizons and make people better-functioning members of society. That, and I think I'd drop out after hearing two nonstop weeks over people fawning over how great Half-Life 2/Portal/Shadow of the Colossus are, after tearing my hair out in anger and frustration of course.

And would the mods be teachers?

I dunno, I can't really picture Russ or someone teaching anything. Reviewing definitely, but not sure about teaching.

Dumbledore. You know that'd be awesome (presuming he's not dead at this stage).

OT: Presuming it was an accredited university (so not one that people see on a resume and go "Next!"), I'd probably go, and most likely do Psychology or something rather than the engineering I've got in my Uni-preference list.
