The Escapist

A few days ago, I decided to give Warcry a visit. After all, Warcry is owned by the same company, so must have a lot in common with The Escapist. I logged in, looked through the forums, and noticed that there wasn't really anyone posting. I shrugged it off, thinking it was a slow day, and left a post or two.

Then today in another thread, someone left a link to Warcry. I said "Oh! I completely forgot! I'll go check to see if anyone responded to me!" And there were maybe a dozen posts in the entire forum since I had last been there. The only thing that I thought was 'Man, this place is empty.'

I guess I'm just asking this. In the early days of The Escapist, was it much like how Warcry is now? Has Zero Punctuation and Unforgotten Realms really changed this site so much? And for bonus conversation, how has The Escapist changed since you joined?

The one who has over four thousand posts here knows better than I ever would. Everything has its humble beginnings, though. These things don't sprout up over night. My guess, it was all a gradual increase with varying activity, and then the entertainment came and people were like "Holy crap, this place is funny!" and shit.

Its sad really, the community is a tight knit one, but they seem to have given up

I say more escapist members (im already back & forth over there) need to go over there. Just dont go making silly threads as they may enforce their negative stereotype of the escapist members.

I haven't been here that long but it seems to me that the grammar and spelling standards have dropped dramatically recently, and the mods have gotten a lot stricter in the last few weeks.

I would but Im not an MMO player, and from what I've seen I would not enjoy it.

OT: I dont think there is anyone left from the old days of the start of the site, except maybe the staff. I'll be around for years to come, as long as I keep my tongue in check and not say anything stupid. As for changes, we have alot more Gonzos than when I joined.

Yeah i noticed that too, left a few comments myself, but its kind of like a ghost town, left my comment in a thread about a month ago on the first page and that threads still on the first page, ah well, Lets keep Escapist thriving boys!..and girls.

I only look at Warcry accidentally...like if someone I know posted there, I'm bored, and then I click on their recent posts...
I don't really know how the Escapist has changed other than there are more people in the places I frequent (read: Forum games)...
And I've never actually posted in WarCry, so I wouldn't know how it's changed.

Warcry used to be bigger than the Escapist is now (according to Moonpenguin). It sort of started fizzling out over time since people migrated around. There are only a handful of dedicated people there now because there hasn't been much to really draw attention to the site.
