What do you guys think the Evolution of PC's will be in the next 10, 20, 100 years or so will be?

I think in the future, all computers will be the size of laptops and some computers might finally start to be holographic. Though of course I have nothing to base this on. :p

What do you guys think the next step in PC's are?

I think Moore's Law will continue to hold true. People have predicted its downfall for decades, but none of those predictions have been correct.

At some point, there will be a computer so smart it can build a faster computer. After this point, computer speeds will increase at an exponential rate for a short period, greatly exceeding the development of Moore's Law.

quantum computers speed up computation speed and will introduce a new programming paradigm
but the only noticeable difference will be better resolution porn
oh and hacking will be more fun

Dunno, but I hope the Ascent to Transcendence/Digital Singularity happens in my lifetime so I can upload myself into the network.

I don't Moore's Law will continue for very much longer. We haven't made CPUs naturally advance past 4 Ghz, and have turned to multi-core instead.

They'll evolve more, but slow down somewhat. We won't ever have soul-storage or true AI.

I hope it turns out like Serial Experiments Lain, it doesn't seem that far fetched, well the technical aspects anyway... it's a must watch for Technophiles and Cyberpunks, such as myself...
