Van Gaal is a mad genius, seen plenty of players brought on to take penalties but I think this is the first time someone's brought on a sub to save them. Van Persie missed a few sitters, they held plenty of possession without penetrating their defence, they've scraped through in the end but they did it nonetheless. Roll on the Netherlands. :D I'm thinking Brazil Vs Holland for the final and the Dutch to play the heart breakers, finally getting the trophy that's been a long time coming after three finals without a win.
[small]Why is the text so small like this ;)[/small] Weird I haven't seen Johnny around. Probably STILL at a Argentina victory party. He seem like the type.

I keep on thinking he's going to fall over each time XD
That gif is brilliant. I love the guys oiling their scalps in the background who give him a casual glance as he goes backwards.

The Dutch team is pathetic. Robben performed dive after dive and then they switch to a specialist goalkeeper just before the penalties. I knew Costa Rica were probably going to lose but I wouldn't have minded so much if the Netherlands team hadn't played so scummy. I don't like Argentina but I hope they destroy the Netherlands.

Woo, 2 hours of football decided by a penalty shootout. They really should come up with something less anti-climactic to end such long, disappointing games.

So, we (Belgium) lost to Argentina. They deserved to win because they clearly dominated the duels.

However, I hated the way it happened. After the first half they absolutely destroyed any will to make a match happen and simply focused on slowing everything down by crawling around the field for no reason and slogging the ball back and forth.

Still, great flashes by some of their players when they got the ball and too much openings and bad passes on Belgium's side!
Belgium had a really dirty play mate. The referee didn't call a good dozen fouls on their behalf. I'm not even that happy we won the match, I'm still searing over all the dirty play and the referee's curious blind spot over it.

Actually it was my girlfriend's birthday. Now that Argentina beat Switzerland in my birthday and Belgium in hers I'm almost sad we don't have any more birthdays for the match against Holland.

I don't know if you actually looked at those dives, but every one of them was a foul. Costa Rica was targeting Robben from the very start of the game. If anything, Costa Rica was playing scummy, sitting behind the ball with the whole team and never trying anything, just waiting it out until the penalties.

And how is switching to a specialist goalkeeper pathetic? Costa Rica was playing for penalties the entire game, they got what they wanted and then some. The Netherlands was the better team by a long sea mile and deserved that win.

Costa Rica was playing defensively. That's hardly scummy.

I was watching and it looked a whole lot like diving to me. He even admitted he dived in the Mexico game, saying "That was a stupid thing to do but sometimes you're expecting to be struck, then they pull their leg away at the last minute and I went to the ground without a touch." To me, that says that he deliberately throws himself on the ground at the slightest touch. The time he apologised for, there was not even the slightest touch and he apologised for looking stupid.

Switching goalkeepers last second just seems cheap. If it wasn't, why isn't there an option to select your goalkeeper when the penalty round begins? Why substitute him in the last 30 seconds of game time? Because it's presumed you will use your main during penalties.

I'll be rooting for Brazil tonight, since as a Dutchman we're not allowed to root for Germany. So I'm hoping for a Bra-Ned final. If we lose to Argentina, I'll be rooting for them in the finals, since I don't want either Germany or Brazil become World Champions.

As a German, I'll root for Germany, of course. Without Neymar, Brazil will probably lose. But maybe they will fight with some sort of desperate courage (with all their fans behind them) and win, anyway. The german team has days where they just won't work and maybe today is one of these days.

If Germany loses today, I would really love to see Brazil winning the cup. So, do your best to defeat Arg or Ned in the finale, in case we'll lose against you today! :p It will be a blast, if Brazil wins the title without Neymar

Also, whatever happens, I want Ger against Arg in the next match. Let's see, if we defeat you the third time in a row during the world cup :D

Seems legit!
I honestly don't know for who I'll be rooting today. I don't want neither Brazil nor Germany to win but I'll be happy if one of the two gets eliminated. Which is bound to happen anyway. Go Argentina!

The same rule applies to the English, but I doubt aside from the sycophantic football pundits there will be many English fans rooting for Brazil tonight. Since the first match against the Croatians I've hated the thought of Brazil winning this world cup, alot of comments on websites seem to reflect the same. The media, specifically the BBC, seem to have a Man United level of bias in favour of Brazil. Besides, surely you'd rather have a Germany/Netherlands final?

Maybe it's because we haven't lost a WC final to Brazil yet (We have to Germany and Argentina)

Still 60mins to go and Germany leads with 4-0.

EDIT: And 2mins later it's 5-0. :O I can't even...
