Alright, so it's been well over a month since Iron Maiden put out their most recent album, "The Final Frontier." When it came out, it was great. I loved it, but the real test for an album is whether or not it will stand the test of time.

So has it stood the test of time?

Well, yes. It seems like the more I delve into "The Final Frontier," the more I like it. The progressive five songs at the end are insanely complex and beautiful to listen to. I can always find something different to appreciate when I listen to each song.

So, I know there are at least a few Iron Maiden fans at the Escapist. And I ask: now that the hype is done and there's been some time to let the dust settle, what do you think of "The Final Frontier"?

We've had this thread before.

The album isn't bad, but the Maiden of the 80s is dead and gone, that's for sure.

The was hype for it? I guess I don't really pay attention. Also the test of time usually comes long after a month though, right?

I liked it. I still like. For me though, it was completely eclipsed by At the Edge of Time, the new Blind Guardian album.

OT:cool story bro.[sub] (Iron maiden is dead *cough*)[/sub]
Hahaha no problem. Look at my posting history, I post a fair bit not just in the relationship and music business help threads I'm most known for...

Yeah I think the new album is okay but damn it's drawn-out. Almost every song has those huge "Fear In The Dark" style intros, a bit of pruning would have done the album a world of good. There's about 40 minutes of good music on the album, problem is that the album is about 70 minutes long.

Oh, this isn't the room for discussing astronomical material? Sorry, I'll check across the hall...

OT: It was an "alright" album, but I really feel that Iron Maiden was done after the 80's. Though the nostalgia of them releasing new albums to bring back my fond memories of them was a kind gesture, it didn't really have that effect. Kind of like Guns N' Roses release of Chinese Democracy. A nice attempt, but they really should have stopped while they were ahead.
