I personally like the second option.
The i7s are quite nice indeed.

But, then again, I've been out of PC building for a while.

i say lame, because you should have Newegg links one each and every item.

However:

Always go intel.

and,

I would ignore that processor cooler and go the http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=31&lng=en

why do you list a sound card when its onboard sound? doesn't make sense

if you go an intel machine, buy an nvidia video card. if you buy an amd, buy an ati card. thats just my personal preference. if you bought a porche, would you buy mercedes spare parts? it doesn't make sense.

great choice on the power supply-- i hate it when people tack on cheapo psu to their expensive components.

Which is cheaper. Also, could you please tell how much and where you got from? And I don't know that much about computer hardware, but i would say the second one

The second one, but get a 295. Much better. Or wait for another 3xx series.

Dude, go to pcspecialists.co.uk I think it's that and then select the pc you would like. They build it for you for usualy about 2/3 of the price of building it yourself somehow!

I'd go with option 2. AMD chips seem to run much hotter than Intel. You'll also have the extra RAM, so you'll have better all-around performance even when you're not gaming. I'm assuming you're running x64 OS, since I don't believe 32-bit Vista supports more than 4GB of RAM (I could be thinking about XP).
