The title that the Escapist assigns "Muckraker" is a to a term President Theodore Roosevelt had technically started.

It basically refers to journalists during his time period who were exposing the harsh realities and problems of America.

Although Theodore Roosevelt meant for it to have a negative connotation, as in those who bring problems to light but offer no solutions, it seems the muckrakers took a liking to the term and accepted it as a title to be proud of.

...I hope that's right~ xD Kind of based on my memory of AP U.S History

Banana plants are actually herbs. And the banana is actually a tropical fruit, not a citrus fruit. It is, however, very close to being a citrus fruit.

- Gravity is the weakest of the four fundamental forces. (Gravity, Electromagnetism, the Week Nuclear force, and the Strong Nuclear force).

- Atoms consist of 99.9% empty space.

- The outer core of the earth is as hot as the surface of the sun.

- The star Betelgeuse on Orion's belt is as large as our solar system and it's output has dimmed by about 15% in the last decade, suggesting that it's going to go supernova soon.

- The human brain can form more neural connections than there are atoms in the viable universe.

- There are no green mammals.

- The reason that time flows forwards and not backwards was discovered by people trying to make steam engines more efficient in the late 18th century.

- Wood is mainly made of carbon, the carbon comes from the air not the soil, thus trees are mainly made out of condensed air.

- The 'blue glow' you seen around nuclear reactors in film is a real life effect and is called called Cherinkov radiation. It occurs when radiation moves faster than light through a medium (i.e. water or air).

Gundam fans already know this one-

Originally the word "Gundam" from the Gundam series was suppose to be "Gunboy" but it doesn't sound strong. They did change it to "Gundom" using the word "Gun" and Freedom. However they went with Gundam changing freedom to dam (hydro eletric dam). The went with this because it imply that the Gundam gun can hold back the enemy attack like how a dam can hold back the water therefore making it sound strong and powerful.

All Quentin Tarantino movies are in the same continuity.
Xmen 3 was originally going to be the Dark Phoenix saga.
If Cinderella hadn't been a hit, Disney would have gone under.

When put in context, Rebecca Black's "Friday" describes John F. Kennedy's assasination.
Also, the actress of Leia didn't wear a bra on set.
okay, 1 holy fuck and 2 bet that made the Jabba the Hutt scene uncomfortable for her.

OT: Thomas Edison invented the word 'hello' as a greeting over phones to replace ahoy-hoy (which is still used by Mr Burns in the simpsons.)

I got nothing. I'm sorry everyone. I'm rather tired. I know tons of useless crap, why can't I think of anything? Well, except stuff that's going to pop up in this thread ten times.

Thomas Edison invented the word hello specifically to give us something to say when we answered the telephone. "hello" is actually a mispronunciation of the word Haloo which is basically the hunting version of Fore! in golf (basically means get your head down... unpleasantness incoming!)

The schwarzschild radius of a person is is approxiamtely 1.5*10^-25 m. That is, if someone were compressed to a sphere with that radius, they would become a black hole.

It's not really even a fruit, it's an Accessory fruit [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessory_fruit] or false fruit, like figs.

The Simpsons were created after Matt Groening was called in to pitch a cartoon series after his success with the Life-In-Hell cartoon strip. Originally he intended to use the rabbit from the strip, but was concerned with losing the rights to the character so he came up with the Simpsons pretty much on the fly.

The Simpsons are named after the members of his family with Bart being an anagram for Brat. Interestingly, when it came time to name Grandpa, Matt Groening wanted no part in it and actually left the room during the discussion. The other staff members came up with Abraham... the name of Matt Groening's actual Grandfather.

No it isn't. Goldfish do not get pregnant. They lay eggs rather then carry live young.

It was pretty damn good, for an instant latte. Now I'm just enjoying a bag of maltesers. And watching Angel.

While I'm here, long shot, but has anyone recently installed Puzzle Pirates from Steam and encountered that Java crash error? Any fixes known?
