My journalism lecturer once told the class about a famous headline - probably mythical - on a story in a tabloid newspaper. The story was that a man with a mental illness had kidnapped a laundry woman and started to rape her, but was surprised by people who came to her aid, so he fled. The headline:

This is a real one that sounds made up; "Driver kills 2 sharks and injures parrot... in Stoke-on-Trent"
