Like any good meal, it needs ingredients. Some people prefer different elements to others. Some people like to see a bit extra added to see what it will create.
But we aren't talking about food (duh). Each game we have played often has that certain something something, be it the aimming, the enviroment, the controls... something that stands out, that you enjoy most about it.
So, heres how it works. Take a few games you have played and take parts from them that you most enjoyed from them. Throw them together and see if your creativity can make something interesting.
Describe what you have made and see if it catches anyones attention.

Ingredients:
I'll take the gathering aspect of Fallout 3 (just grab stuff from the ground...), the graphics of Red Dead Redemption, the enviroment settings of Left 4 Dead (cities, towns, forests) and have the story of Max Brook's World War Z.
What have I created:
A massive sandbox enviroment where salvaging is vital, destroyed buildings are everywhere and there are your good old classical horde shuffling zombies.
