Guild Wars was it for me (still play, pvp is fun). I wanted something more in depth so I tried out a few of the bigger names and ended up staying with LotRO.
Something like this.. altough technically Guild Wars is not a MMORPG... more of a Co-Op Online RPG. There's nothing massive in it. :)

Ragnarok Online. I don't count Guild Wars, as I bought it, played a week, and then resumed gameplay when Factions came out. And I bought it for 130 PLN (pre-order), half of which I earned for helping my dad in his job, and the other half was my birthday present.

But Ragnarok Online is awesome, will be always. Too bad RO2 is probably going to suck.

I started with EverQuest 1, classic, only a year or two after it came out. It was so unbelievable, everything gamers always dreamed about for a multiplayer game. It was in 3D (holy crap!) and it was massive to boot.

I started out in Halas as a Barbarian Rogue, and my friends were in Freeport. They forced me to travel through the Blackburrow caves and across the desert fields. What a trip it all was.

I played EQ with 4 of my closest friends, and we had the time of our lives (in gaming anyways). There will never be another moment like that for me, it was just out-of-sight and out-of-this-world. So much adventuring and Real danger.
