This is the old game that is the reason you keep that console or on the PC that you keep fighting to make it work. You know where you spend several hours to find the cause, fix, and then pray it works for this one game.

I know there are many games I would let die before I would do all that work.

My console game is Perfect Dark, I have it on the N64 with a backup on the 360.

My PC game is Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I keep fixing it and the world keeps breaking it. Again I own 2 copies in case one breaks.

While I do not play these games enough to justify the work I put into them my love for them keeps me making sure they work and are playable when I get the urge.

What are your games that you have/had to work for?

CTR for the Playstation 1.

I used to play the game so much that it became scratched from just spinning in the disc-tray.
I spent the next five years trying a multitude of disc cleaners. None worked. Finally I got one that removed 90% of all the scratches, it was a DVD disk cleaner at a local library.

I now can say I play CTR once again like I used to.

Civilization III and Rome Total War...I haven't had many issues with Total War, but Civ III doesn't seem to work as well on Windows 7 as it did on previous versions of Windows, so it's required a bit of tinkering with init files. Unfortunately my screen is broken on my laptop and connecting it via a monitor causes unacceptable latency in gameplay for some reason, so I can't play it most of the time :(

It was Neverwinter Nights 2. Spend like 4 fucking hours patching and re-patching and downloading drivers and testing stuff.
Works fine on my new computer though.

Was it worth the hassle? Eh. Not really. Played it for a couple hours sometime last week-ish and haven't touched it since.
