I propose a purely hypothetical situation.

Suppose that a race of self aware and fully consious aliens happens upon earth. Using their advanced technology, they analyze the human society. They then decide on several topics on which they do not fully understand and abduct a human to learn more.

One of these topics is video games.

They cannot comprehend the popularity of these things and pose this question onto you, the abductee.

Can you legitimize games to a purely neutral observer as a form of entertainment?

Suppose you do so with imaculate aclarity and they are interested.

They ask for, in as few a games as possible, the complete experiance of video gaming?

You stress that games are mostly subjective and it comes down to one's opinion and they understand but they want to see the broadest compilation of genres and play styles in as few games as possible and they pose this callenge to you.

What do you say? Can you do it? Who can make a list of games that resonably covers and represents almost every major and important genre? What are they? And most importantly, why do you think it is the most well rounded list?

Easy pong the reason?
Everygame has an objective. (To get the ball to the other side.)
Everygame has an obstacle. (The other paddle.)

G-mod
Objective is to have fun.
Obstacle is how to do it.

Portal
Objective the cake.
Obstacles the levels.

You get the idea all games have these qualities.
