Breakdown and Jet Set Radio Future. Handful of people still remember JSRF and no idea how many even remember Breakdown.

OT: I'd say "Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magicka", but it's got a huge following, I'm pretty sure a patch was released for it only a couple of years ago (don't quote me on that it's a hunch)
I'd say Arcanum as a franchise has slipped into obscurity (I don't think that's true for the game though, thanks to gog.com). It had great potential for sequels/other games set in the same world but the demise of Troika put an end to all that. I wonder who holds the rights to the game, it would be pretty cool if a developer like Bethesda or Obsidian could get their hands on it.

The Disciples series. It's a high fantasy, turn-based strategy game with rpg elements. It's also fucking fantastic. The gameplay is great on its own but the artstyle is what sells the game.
Hah, great Avatr for the comment! is Disciples 3 any good? I played one to death (horribly flawed, but also totally rad) and gave 2 a good run out, but haven't really looked at 3 yet.
Haha you may be the only person to recognize my avatar ;) I haven't played 3 either but I have played 1 and 2 to death. Supposedly 3 was a rush job but I'll withhold judgement until I play it.

What happened to Knytt Stories? It was getting a bit of publicity awhile back but now it seems to have lost it all.

It's a freeware indie game if anyone's interested, it's probably worth checking out :3

Wing Commander...

EA, please make a modern Wing Commander game! Please! Give it to... BioWare. They could do it! Probably.... bring someone else in for the flying parts, but the colorful cast of characters is what made the original Wing Commander so great. It was like the first Half Life for the SNES era. You wanted to keep those people alive, even if they did trail into your shots.

Shadow Over Mystara. Capcom arcade beat-em-up + RPG type setting + awesome variety of playable characters, enemies, branching paths through levels, and weapons = WIN

If you've played Dungeon Fighter, imagine that, take pretty much everything wrong with that game's fighting system (random chances for attacks to "miss", certain enemies having super armour meaning you can't hit them without getting hit back unless you throw them), make it more arcade-y and less MMO, and you've got SoM.

Jade Empire: I can't be the only one that remembers this game. It's a game that BioWare put out in between KOTOR and Mass Effect, and honestly, might be one of the best things they've ever made. It's set in ancient China, features martial arts combat, and rich settings.
I always thought that this was a fantastic game, but you never hear much about it anymore. I guess that it just didn't have the same impact that KotOR or ME did.

KLONOA: DOOR TO PHANTOMILE.

Look it up. Buy the game. Play it through. Never be the same again. Trust me, its worth it.

And its sequel, Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, is even better.

There is a game that I think either everyone seems to think is bad, or just apparently has totally forgotten.

BREAKDOWN. Xbox game, and it was first person all the way. Punching, shooting, powers, and all that stuff.

Interesting game, different kind of story, and all sorts of stuff. Yet everyone just kind of...passed it by.

Jersey Devil for the PSOne. A funny platformer.

Also, Sphynx and the Cursted Mummy. An AMAZING game that is very overlooked.

Hah, this is the one thread where I'm glad I got ninja'd, someone mentioned No One Lives Forever I believe, great couple of games that shuldv'e been a trilogy.

I don't know if Thief counts what with the sequel announced, but no one talks about the three existent games anymore.

- Lost Odyssey (More Final Fantasy than everything official since part IX)
This. Anyone who's lost hope in JRPGs needs to play this.

To quote the Better Than It Sounds article on TVTropes-

Lost Odyssey: Immortals try to get back at another Immortal for being a prick. This is accomplished by making the player cry like a little girl.

Demon's Crest was a great game. Try playing it and not trying to beg Capcom to make FireBrand in to Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Well, GOG has it listed with Activision as the Publisher rather than Sierra. So odds of that happening, possibly slim.

And to answer the Topic (and not go into crazy ol' encyclopedic mode) I think I'm just going to mention one of my light-hearted favourites from the Playstation Era, that being Squaresoft's Threads of Fate. And for once I can shorten my explanation as to why into one word: Mint.

Seriously, she's just awesome.

The first two Golden Sun games are magical. And Dark Cloud for PS2 is fairly good (and pretty rare, it was a piece of luck I managed to get a copy at all, and I only realised it existed because its demo came with my PS2).
