Mirror's Edge certainly has my attention. That seems like a game right up my alley if they manage to actually do something intelligent and sophisticated with the 1984 type setting they have chosen. If it's just secondary school political hogwash, it's gonna suck cancerous teat, however ....

I think a transparent discussion of sociopolitical issues certainly has its place in modern games, but I also believe it requires more thought and internal critical review than most game studious are likely to invest in their technology-driven products. I think GTA is an excellent example of that; even with the humorous, ultraviolent and bizzare content the GTA games could ask serious questions and let the player provide answers - but then the crime, blood and sex would have to be more than a gimmick to push product.
