But don't have that one old school game that sticks with you for some reason? the game you just suddenly remember one day and spend a few hours scouring Piratebay or ebay or local stores because no normal chain carries it anymore? come on a soft spot for some old game?? none??? :O
I loved the crap out of Road Rash 64 (guess what console it was for? :p ) I also loved Vigilante 8 (N64). I enjoy racers where you beat up / blow up anything else.

Then I played Burnout: Revenge, and Twisted Metal series. Both of them better at what they do.

Is it bad? I find I'm getting a fuller experience out of my games by being objective about what they improve from the "classics" and allowing that to stand on its own. While these games can still be improved (as everything can be) I think ignoring what Twisted Metal did because I liked Vigilante 8 would be backwards.

I'd also like to note that I own every console from the NES to the PS3, but the old games are really just there for decoration. Yes I do appreciate what they were in their time, but I appreciate what modern games have done with them too.

Actually, I was recently trying to figure out an easy way to replay Spyro the Dragon, AKA the most important and life changing creation that mankind has ever brought forth from the void.

Is it bad that I find a few M&M songs kinda catchy?

Part of me says yes : (
You should be very very ashamed.

But it tells a story too! Kinda catchy, has a cute girl looped in the chorus, it's not the worst thing the hiphop/rap (I don't know the difference) community ever released that sold crazy, is it?
Ah yes. That one is alright. I like that Dido is in it.

My favourite Eminem song is

Still not that great though.

OT: OP, the best games, are in my opinion the older one. If I accumulated my list of favourite games, most would be pre 2006. New releases have the occasional gem like Bioshock, but I'll always prefer older games.

And no, it isn't a nostalgia thing. I loved Masquerade: Bloodlines, and that is an older game and I played it for the first time around 2008/2009.

My ps2 still gets more action than my 360.
Even more so since xbox live for the original xbox was shut down.

I recently bought a BRAND NEW Nintendo 64.
Got it from a guy who owns a storage facility, he was selling stuff left from a toy shop who went belly up in 2000.
The best thing, the smell of new plastic!

I immediately bought Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie - Christmas is very fun for me :D

No your not lame at all, I just got the 60gb PS3 model for christmas just so I can play PS1 & PS2 as well. I've always stuck with Nintendo through all these years and I know I missed a lot of great games on the other consoles I gotta try.

I probably wouldn't be going to the classic games though if any of these new games actually interested me. Seriously, the Wii is a fucking a let down, easily the worst console and library so far, at least it can play Gamecube games though.

Not long ago I bought Link to the Past over the virtual console and I had a lot more fun with that than Twilight Princess, so anyone telling you new games are better by default are full of it.

For me a classic has to be a good game which is still in high regard today or better, actively played.

M.U.L.E. springs to mind.

What the title made me think of.

Specifically, the line "yesterday's for fools who try to remember//the good old days weren't always that much better."

There are good current games. I think the reason the past is more appealing is time has filtered out the crap.
