Uniting mankind is a necessary step for the future, that is true.
But democracy is not the way. It's our demise.
I only need to look outside to see the the damage it slowly but surely inflicts on countries and human society.
It's not the way, believe me.
But in terms of propaganda this video is very nice footage.
As a quick aside, your avatar would agree with you on this. However, I'm sure his vision of an "ideal" society would be far too harsh for any of us.
Do you live in the United States? If so, bear in mind the U.S. is not a true democracy, but a republic.
If there was a true democracy with an altruistic, tolerant and well-informed public it would do wonders, I feel. Sadly I must agree with your assertion that such an ideal system will probably never truly materialize.
Still, that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive towards it.
I don't live in the USA, I hail from Europe, Germany to be exact
To be completely honest, I'm rather leaning towards viewpoint of this Black Templar here.
Of course it's exaggerated and in some regards a little bit too harsh, but generally it's a step into the right direction.
I think mankind is unfit for democracy. A way too loose governance that only invites certain downfall and catastrophe.
Unsuited to defend the people properly from dangers of the outside, the inside and their own minds.
What humanity really needs, in my opinion, is a strong hand that guides it, reclaims right values and keeps it on the right way.
Of course you could call it "oppression". But in my opinion, opression is not given here, since such a system is just built to act in favour of humanity, and
unnecessary harshness, which is the main indicator of oppression, isn't meant to exist here.
Though I have to admit, it would require a certain sacrifice of personal freedom.
But heed this: This is not for any tyrant growing fat on his thrown. That is for us. The humans.
A required restraint we have to put on our selves, an aspect of selfless obedience towards mankind's elite in the name of the greater good, we have to make if we truly want to advance and give mankind the chance for a bright and glorious future.
Altruism is great, but tolerance is a double-edged sword, and information can be one as well.
Here it's always reasonable and necessary to have a sensible balance.
A complete atmosphere of tolerance is just as dangerous as an atmosphere of complete assimilation and uncompromised rejection, since it's too forgiving and leaves the door open for degeneration and negative changes.
Whereas information can become dangerous when it's severely altered by perception and becomes capable of misleading human minds.
