Ok, some claims made by game companies get me.

Dead Frontier, the #1 free-to-play zombie MMO on the market,

Does it still count if there is no number 2?

Why do some game companies do this? Why make extravagant claims that anyone who has even looked at an industry article knows are nothing but bogus? does anyone actually see something like this as a desperate cry for attention?

I mean by that logic.. I am the greatest human being who ever lived.... who has a scar between two toes and owns every album pink floyd ever produced.

Does anyone actually fall for this? Have you ever had a friend who starts talking up some product sounding like a commercial for something that you know is either commonly known as horrific or a borderline scam?

you do realize that items cost "13.99" because it sounds a lot more than one cent better than $14. that's why gas is alway, x and 9/10 cents/gallon. it's all marketing, the very purpose of marketing is to make a product sound better than it actually is. of course it doesn't make sense if you think about it, but most people don't.

There is one other. Hidden amongst the rubble that is the internet. www.urbandead.com

OT: How else would they be able to sell their products if not for these claims. They do test these though... bias testing methods of course... using 3 people.

True enough, and I do get it. Ive worked in marketing, Ive studied advertising in school. However I rarely if ever actually see these techniques work in practical application. I may not have a lot of hope for humanity, but most people generally do see this as bogus from what ive seen. So i dont get who exactly this is intended to sucker.

Its sort of like spam mail...who actually falls for spam mail claims in this day and age?

Though I do know one guy, a janitor my mom works with, who was bragging about his time share condo in florida and how extravagant it was. He was soo proud because he was paying only 400 a month for it and was getting such a sweet deal... till he tried to use it and came face to face with all the restrictions and clauses it entailed and by that time, he was stuck in contractual obligations.

But doesnt it seem more than just a little bit wasteful if you know only one out of 1000 people are going to fall for your blatant deception, and all that blatant deception is going to accomplish is give 999 out of 1000 a negative reaction in order to sway 1 person, was it really worth it?

Sadly enough, yes, it does. Sure, not everyone believes those claims, (and I pity those that fall for it) but I'm guessing people still play it.
