I'm constantly yearning for a point and click adventure, so I check out several freeware and flash game sites (point and click games suck most of the time now, so I may as well be playing them for free).
Anyhow, I found this flash game series called Grow, which isn't a point and click game. I'm not really sure how to classify the games. Puzzle, I guess. But I've really enjoyed all the Grow games I've played.

(Skip down to the bottom paragraph if you just want to try the game and figure things out on your own instead of reading all my dribble about how it works.)

The games all follow the same basic rules. There's pictures of various items on the screen, and the number of items is also the number of turns you have. You have to click the pictures and make them materialize on the game field one at a time.
As you chose new items, items already out on the field will level up and change, or evolve with each turn. This is where the whole "grow" thing comes in. For example, you put a flower pot on the field (that's one turn). Next, you choose a square block. The block appears on the field, and the flower pot that's already out will sprout a bud. Then you put out another item. The flower pot's bud will open into a flower while the block might open up into a robot or start growing into a tower (sounds strange but items do turn into weird things). You win the game when you figure out the correct order to put the items on the field, and in effect make all the items level up/grow to their max levels.
The other thing to keep in mind is that items will affect each other depending on if they get placed one after another, or if they are grown to a certain point. The environment of the field itself also can affect items and help them level up further, or ruin the item (Example again: A cloud in the sky might rain on an item).
It sounds a bit random/trial and error (and it is sometimes). You can use logic to figure the order if you pay attention to how items or the environment affect other items. It doesn't do much to try and explain this all in words; it's better to just see it for yourself. It took me a few games to wrap my head around it. But just watching the items grow into crazy stuff was fun on it's own. And if I got stuck too long, you can just scroll down to the comments below the game. There's at least two or three posts with the walkthrough.

I suggest starting on Grow Tower. http://www.eyezmaze.com/eyezblog_en/blog/2009/01/grow_tower.html
It only has five items (there are grow games with even less, but I think this one is both easier than most and is still a good introduction to the whole Grow games concept). One hint though; one of the items needs to be changed into a sixth clickable item. Links to other Grow games are on the right side of the page. I don't who else might like these, but I love this little games and just wanted to share.
