Now, we've all crapped our pants in the threads talking about the announcement (except for the people whining about Saints Row and IV). But I think now we need to get some speculation in before the trailer comes out next week. The reason we have to get most of it don't before the first trailer is that Rockstar usually put only game play footage in their trailers, so unlike other trailers well know quite a lot about where its set and who the characters are.I want this thread to just be speculation, which means no whining that Saints Row is better or whining that GTA IV was boring.

I think that it will be set in Vegas. Because they used the dollar bill colour scheme for the V and Vegas is basically based around money. Also, the V might stand for Vegas. I personally think that a GTA set in Vegas would be pretty sweet, you could have car chases down the strip, do something with Hoover Dam and there will be the obligatory gambling minigame which ALL games set in Vegas have (except for Rainbow Six). Please note that all my knowledge of Vegas and the surrounding area comes from New Vegas, so dont bother to correct me.

There was already a GTA set in Las Vegas, called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Pretty big game, actually. It was reviewed on most gaming sites and magazines. Have you been living under the sea or something?

Plus, it's not Las Vegas. It's Las Venturas. ¬¬

While not a full speculation, I'd like a possible female main character, or maybe a customisable. Not essential, but it'd be nice.

Also, can I be a little pleady and ask for something like GTA London again. Just to sate my wish. Probably not likely, but it'd be nice to dream.

I know there's no chance of it happening but I'd love a GTA in Dublin, Ireland. Apart from the fact that I live in Ireland I just think it would suit 'cause Dublin is a pretty bad place for crime at the moment and the I dunno I just really would. It's hard to explain... Like how I want to hear Mastodon cover the Mortal Kombat theme.

Heck, I'd love a GTA in Dublin. I live in the North. You could get a lot of interesting conflict between North and Republic, whether the character be involved or not divides are fairly inescapable round here.

I want either a European country or San Andreas again. And I hope they raise the scale a bit this time. Like San Andreas. And it would be awesome if they added a little more customization or a few RPG elements. Like San Andreas. And if they went a bit back to the goofiness of the 6th gen games. Like San Andreas.

You say San Andreas. I want the fun factor and some goofiness ramped up to 10. Like in Vice City.

I second this speculation. Furthermore using my extremely powerful English skills of deduction, I bet my boots and a good proportion of my facial hair that it will be set in an alternate Washington D.C.

Why? Well the clues are in the logo...
Working for corrupt politicians sounds like fun!

It will either carry on been gritty and therefore probably even worse than the 4th one, or try and go back to wacky in which case it will depend how much of SA or VC they can remember.

If you have to befriend everyone again, im just gonna shoot them, gta IV only took so long for me cause i was trying to keep on everyones good side enough to not be murdered/get the benifits, which took longer than the actual missions for me...

And it will be in america with some evil authority figure turning up at somepoint, but will it be americangov/army/intelligence or a none american one will be the question. Oh and the targeting system will probably be drunk as always.

GTAV: Dundee, the Rockstar North team go back and set GTA in the place where DMA Design (the initial name of Rockstar North before it moved to Edinburgh) was originally founded. Also I live there so it would be satisfying to allow me to cause choas in my hometown.

Ah, a man can dream.

Honestly, whether it goes wacky or gritty is going to be such a coin toss. IV sold well from what I understand, so it looks like money is to be made. Yet some dissatisfaction seemed to be raised after initial sales. It depends what Rockstar look at I guess.

GTA: Dublin must be made!
A female player character would be interesting it is something they haven't done before in a GTA game.

It would be curious to see how Rockstar would handle a playable female character and what traits they could assign to her.

Perhaps a new trilogy? One that takes place in San Andreas...

First one in Los Santos, second in San Fierro, last in Las Venturas...

By the looks of the logo it's set in America. The Five has got the American currency look, the colour, the hatching, the typeface http://picturesofamericanmoney.com/images/5_dollar_bill.jpg

I've got my money on it being set in the US.

(LOL, just read the URL of that link. BTW that's totally a bestiality site link)

I want it to remain fairly serious now. It's lost it's chance to go into sheer lunacy terrority (saints row laid claim to that) so I think they should stick with they do best. A very dark humored story with plenty of satire and pokes at current culture with a clear structure and some wacky characters. In other words, I'd rather they carry in the same vein of game style of Ballard of gay tony rather then GTA IV. Or god forbid, the lost and the damned.

Also, I'd like it to go someplace else in America. Not San Andreas or Vice city, somewhere new. Hopefully they'll do England again, but I'd doubt it'd make contextual sense with the varying differences in policing and what not.

I'd like to see them go back to San Andreas as a whole, but given the way they expanded Liberty City from III to IV I think expanding a whole State in a similar way would be far too big, so I'd be ok with them just focusing on one city/county from the game. That is, if they do pick a San Andreas location at all.

I doubt they'll do anywhere outside of America at all, much less England. I think no-one will really do sandboxes set in London, not since the Getaway outdid GTA: London, then the way Getaway 2 murdered the premise and dumped it in the Thames.

Besides the obvious attempt at following Saint's Rows example of "it's an eff'ed up world so have fun with it," I'd really like to see a game set in a previous timeline, specifically the 80's. Or even the 70's. And set it in England. The American scene has really been chewed thoroughly.
