Halo Reach comes out this september and I'm actually looking forward to it. Which is saying something since the last few games have been let downs to me. I've enjoyed playing Halo. But I never became that hardcore fan that obsessed over it. My favorite game in the series is the first Halo. I owned Halo 2 and 3 but they were disappointments to me. Halo 2 was a let down in the way that they were starting to humanize the Convanent and give them voices, let us know what they were like other than just leaving them as a hostile alien race that hated to the human existence and wanted them destroyed. They made us play as them in the campaign and those missions were horrible. The campaign left us with a cliffhanger that only made me more irritated with the game. Not to mention that they were beginning to get rid of the Elites and replace them with the Brutes. The multiplayer was the only thing in the game to me that deserved any praise. The updated graphics are a given. Then Halo 3 came out or as I refer to it, Halo 2.5. And that's all it was to me. The multiplayer was the same as Halo 2, nothing really new. A handful of new weapons and vehicles, some re-imagined Halo 2 maps, campaign was horrible. All in all Halo 3 brought nothing new to the series other than an ending to a story that lost it's appeal. And then Bungie makes ODST to give the other side of the story. And it still was bad. The only reason I can think of anyone buying that game was so they can unlock the Recon armor and play the beta for Reach. Then there was Halo Wars, a change from an FPS game to a RTS. I'm sure if the limited edition didn't have the mythic map codes it wouldn't have sold at all. I didn't even bother to look into the game. But I'm sure it's nothing to get worked up about. From what I heard the game wasn't that great anyways. Now we're back to square one. Bungie is deciding to make a new Halo game that takes place either before or during the first game. Not entirely sure which. And the Elites are back as the main baddies. It just shows that Bungie knew they made a mistake getting rid of the Elites and making them allies. But that could be just me.
