Marmite, for those of you who don't know, is a "food spread" which has a very strong, salty distinctive taste common in english-speaking countries such as England, New Zealand and Australia. For those of you who have once spread this ooey-stickey food spread over your loaf of bread, did you like it? Do you still eat it? And if so, what is it that you find tasty? I've only had it once myself and have never dared to eat it again. Not even if Jessica Alba walked into my room, took of all of her clothes, laid down on her stomach and spread it all over her buttocks, asking me to lick it off.

Crap, now I have to go change undies.

Marmite is a yeast product, no? We had some South African lady staying at my friends house on an exchange program. She fed us Marmite sandwiches, which in my opinion tasted okay. Then again my mom put brewers yeast on the popcorn in lieu of butter, so I may be a bad Yank to gauge general North American opinion.

It's Vegemite!!! Not Marmite! Marmite is some horrible offspring of vegemite! I love it (Vegemite that is) and have it on toast. Also cutting up your toast into rectangles and dipping it in an egg. Mmm mmm.

EDIT

Vegemite FTW

Marmite is but a poor imitator.
I didn't see this post. But so true.

I third the vegemite sentiment. Even then the only way I can eat vegemite is on toast with a VERY thin spread of butter, then vegemite. In this way it is a beautiful breakfast.

Marmite all the fucking way. My grandfather used to eat it what seemed about an inch thick on toast... sometimes I'll just get a jar of Marmite and a knife and sit there, eating away quite happily. Extra points for eating it neat, no mixers?

What's bovril? An imitator of an imitator?
