Yeah, you aren't missing much. A lot of people have an issue with much of Collin's books. Most people complain about the characters and their relationships constantly taking the spotlight, and yeah, that's my problem with it too, it's not that good either.

The second movie was much better than the first though. I still love the zany, colorful fashion sense of the richer Districts. Too bad it's pushed out of focus for more running around in forests and teenage romance.

I think they're so popular because Katniss is IMO a really great character. She goes against the typical Hollywood female and instead strong, independent and a fighter. The love story is also what Twilight tried and failed to be which makes it even more interesting.
How is a young, sexy, intelligent woman with a bow any different than all the other young, sexy, intelligent women with bows in every other movie?
She different from all the millions of women who use their body to get what they want and play the damsel in distress like 90% of Hollywood's women.
Um, what are you talking about? Have you seen the movies or read the books. She uses her feminimity constantly to play up the fake romance that she has with Peta.

Well, what you're missing is that it's Battle Royale, and...that's about it.

I've done both. She only plays up the romance because it means the difference between life and death and she constantly mentions how guilty she feels about it.

based on what I saw from MovieBob's review (at least the clips) it looked like essentially the same movie as the first. Still feels cheap, as in, yeah we got back a bigger chunk of change than what we spent to make the first but we're going to use essentially the same props and sets, and point for point story as the first and give it a new name and people will be suckered into seeing it and later buying it.
