Hello, my friends of The Escapist!
Today I wish to discuss an issue that is common around the world since humanities beginnings. People have nicknamed this topic many things, such as "teenagers being teenagers" or "stupid fun," but in the end it does not matter what you call it, because we all know what it is. Today, I am going to talk about the "Idiot Factor." (Not the book by Larry Winget.)
Most of us know the scenario, that "one guy" or gal whose intelligence and common sense seem to be as low as humanly possible for someone of their age. We have seen the videos over time, such as the infamous diving under trains at the last possible second and laying down as flat as humanly possible and letting it ride over them. Or another one could simply be of playing chicken in a street race between two drivers, or against a train, or really any situation where a person puts themselves at extreme risk of death for the adrenaline rush, bravado, or a dare. I am not talking about low-risk situations, or about things that are sports (such as parachuting) that are risky, but the ones detailed above that when we see it, we shake our heads and look away--because we don't want to see what we know will happen.
Here's one such example of the Idiot Factor in action, and what it must look like through their eyes when they do this event. The sheer amount of thoughts that are (or at least should be) running through their mind telling them that they regret this and won't do it again, yet some they simply up the danger level.
Here's an example of what it must look like underneath a train, and why it is so shocking to believe someone would willingly do this. And considering this, this train is only a few inches above the track for some cars, and that this one in the video is actually fairly secure underneath. I've seen a bit of videos of trains that have an extreme amount of varying sizes, loose objects, and many other factors that nearly smash the camera on youtube (lets not forget these modern day cameras are smaller than our fists, and they're almost hit by the trains. And people are bigger than our new cameras, so we can only imagine)
Now, we all know majority of the reasons why people do these things, but what I wish to have a discussion with all of you about is the effect on society with these people. So here comes the questions!
The Questions:
If you have done anything that you personally view of qualifying for being an Idiot Factor, then click here.
If you have not done anything that qualifies, here are questions about your view on it.
Thank you all for reading and anyone for replying. Please, lets keep the discussion civil and no insults against anyone for their views or what they've done. Lastly before anyone asks, I will create my own views later, but right now my hands are a bit tired from all the typing that I just want to finish up the thread. Thanks for understanding!
PS: I hope this thread is somewhat new or refreshing from what we've been getting lately, this is my second thread in my three years of being here, since most of the time any thread that I wish to create has already been made. Apologies if I missed a similar thread and made a repeat!

Notice: Please know that I am not calling you stupid or anything close to that, I am only commenting on your actions that you describe here, and I will not judge since we all make mistakes. If you feel uncomfortable discussing the story, or do not to disclose it, then you do not have to. If you wish to void a question, simply put "VOID" next to the number. Answer all that you feel comfortable discussing.
1) What was your "Idiot Factor"?
2) Why did you do it?
3) How did you feel about it then, and now?
4) Would you want to, or have you already done, something similar again?
5) Would you recommend the activity to someone else, as long as they took precautions and tried to be as safe as humanly possible with it?
6) Should you have been seriously injured or disfigured during such events, how differently do you feel your life would be today?
7) Any afterthoughts, or anything you'd like to state or clarify after answering these questions?
Thank you for your honest answers, and please remember, you can at any time write "VOID" for any questions you do not wish to disclose.

1) Have you ever witnessed an activity or event that you'd consider to be qualifying as an "Idiot Factor" moment? If you have, describe it.
1a) How did you or anyone else nearby feel about the situation? What did you classify the person as afterwards? (e.g. brave, dumb, etc)
1b) Did you want to join in, or were being pressured into joining? Why?
2) If someone were to be hurt, or killed, during such an event, what would you feel it should be classified as? A tragedy? Accident? Life? Or even something such as a blessing, since that person can no longer endanger others? Why?
2a) What if the incident involved a loved one or a friend, would you feel the situation should be regarded more seriously by the community, or to the same level as anyone else who were to get injured?
3) Should we as a society attempt to educate, or otherwise prevent people from doing these actions? How far should they be allowed when it comes to endangerment to themselves or others before we should, if at all, intervene?
