So I recently got my first tattoo and I have to say I'm pretty fucking stoked about it, I wanted to get something that signified my family and also looked cool, so my brother paid for my tattoo as a Christmas present.

So my fellow Escapists, show my your tattoos, tell everyone what they/it are/is, why you got them/it, what you plan on getting next, how did you react when getting it/them, how do people react to you tattoo(s), all that good stuff.

My tattoo isn't quite fully healed yet, so I won't be showing a picture of it, but here's what I got on my right forearm, maybe later I'll post a picture of it.

I am considering this:
Just the Toucan...

On my arm...

I also want something along the lines of:
But more detailed, and with the relics from:
Bring me my Bow of burning gold;
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In England's green & pleasant Land

The angel is pretty badass, but I gotta say, love the tucan.

I'm planning on getting Ouroboros, the Snake Who Eats Its Own Tail, on the palm of my right hand.

That, my friends, is going to hurt.

I got this shortly after my 18th birthday.

It's on my right shoulder blade and it's a combination of pride in my Celtic heritage, and a memorial for my grandmother on my father's side.

If I have children I'll get their first and middle names on the left side of my chest.

Haha, incidentally, yes, but that wasn't the origin of my interest. I'm not a homonculus, I swear!

I'm not too into tattoos, but sometimes I feel like I want one. If I were to get one, it would be my avatar, which I drew. I'm not too fond of getting something from someone else on me.

1st one. Had this about 2.5 years now. Its also really hard to get a good angle when using a fixed webcam to take a pic of the back of your leg...

2nd one, recently finished, been getting it done since May.

and the inside of it...

EDIT: spoiler tags.

I don't have any particular reason for getting tattoos other than I love how they look. Naturally I get some funny reactions due to the size of them. Next one planned is going to be a continuation of the 1st one around the bottom of my leg.

This is what I'm getting on my 18th. My friends getting the same thing since were huge Silent Hill Nuts.

Also, I'm saving up to get something like this;

or something like it on my back.

First tattoo, early 2005.
Symbolizes my love for comics.

Second tattoo, late 2005.
Had a thing for dragons since early childhood, so something along these lines was pretty much inevitable.

I haven't got a Tattoo yet, but I've wanted one for a while. Trouble was in choosing what to get.

For a while I was going to get the "Earth" Symbol from Stargate (my favourite TV show)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f5/Stargate-earth-glyph.png

But now I've decided on the Seal of Rassilon from Doctor Who.

It's just a bloody cool design, and symbolises infinity. It's they type of design that's only geeky if you know what it is.

I was thinking of getting it done this month. Though I have no idea how much Tattoos cost.

My dad is a tattoo artist, so I've seen what tattoos hurt, and where they hurt the most. He sometimes jokes with me about tattooing Mario on me, but I'm starting to take that seriously.

Varies based on size, difficulty, colour (or lack thereof) and where you live.

To get that second (Doctor Who one) in Australia at a 1:1 size expect between $200 and $600 depending on where you go and who's doing it.

You tend to get what you pay for but there are some places where you pay through the nose for the right to say you got it done there more than anything else.

In the most respectful way to ask that I can: do you actually have the right to bear that coat of arms/heraldry (through descent) or did you just get it because of your last name?

If I ever did get a tattoo, which is unlikely, it would be this "the guy" from "disturbed," on my right shoulder blade. Basically what it is are two demonically red, glowing eyes and a toothy grin without lips of nose or any sort of thing inbetween.
