How would you refer to the gamer that falls in between the hardcore gamer and the casual gamer? That's kinda the category that I fall into, but I don't know what to call myself. I'm not such a hardcore gamer that I buy gaming clothes, toys, etc. But I'm not such a casual gamer that all I play are games like Bejewled or Diner Dash. Help me discover my identity Escapists! I'm am lost, confused, and in a daze!

You should ask Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter because he cares about things like this so that we don't have to.

By your own admission you are a gamer. What you add before or after that word is your personal choice, which...O' you want us to classify you and find a comfortable box that you can crawl into?

Well, then, tell us all about your gaming experiences, the highs and lows, the many years / months you have spent gaming and just give us an in-depth perspective on your gaming habits as they are today. Then we can continue this conversation.

You have to buy game-related clothes to be hardcore now? The hell...?

If you play games, enjoy games, and would list 'playing video games' as one of your hobbies, you're a gamer. No need to add hierarchy to it.

Softcore gamer would make sense :p
That just makes me think of porn.

I like to call myself casually hardcore, because I'm an asshole who likes oxymorons. Although I do have some gamer shirts, so maybe I'm more hardcore than I thought. Anyway, I think of middle-of-the-road gamers as just gamers. Also, really hardcore gamers are freaks and casual gamers are "normies."

hardcore and casual are stupid monikers people created to feel better about the decisions they made with regards to their gaming habits,.

You're a gamer. that's it.

Why do people feel obliged to LABEL things? It's so very, very unnecessary. Why can't we all just be gamers together??

shhh, we don't like that talk around here! The amount of sense and the debates and bitching that would be prevent would make this forum a better place! And no one wants that.

Sounds like me, and I'd just say "gamer" as it's not my exclusive hobby, nor am I addicted to playing all the time (tho I was what may be considered a hardcore WoW player once upon a time).

We can't be gamers together for simple reasons.

Look, the day my grandma asks to borrow Mass Effect cause she 'read about the alien porn controversy on the internet' is the day I put something metal and loaded to my head.

...I mean that would involve integrating our gaming preferences, which would end disastrously.

We don't need to call ourselves anything because we don't need to categorise our identities soley through being a 'gamer'.

If you're halfway between a twat and a disinterested person then welcome to conventional living, we have cake.

Quoted For Truth.

Although if the OP really wants an arbitrary classification that badly, I'd just call him a gamer.
