Here's the rules, feel free to contribute.

Take a shot if;

- It's running on the Unity engine.
- If your character is holding a flashlight.
- If there is writing on the walls in blood.
- The game primarily revolves around you collecting stuff.
- If it's based of a Creepypasta.
*Another shot if it's based of Slenderman.
- If it's based of SCP (I don't thick SCP is technically considered CreepyPasta).
- If PewDiePie has already done a LP of it.
- If the game suddenly closes itself when you die.
*Or when you finish it.

These are particularly cruel and inhumane.

Anyway...

- You start with a blunt object/pistol
- The playable character is of questionable sanity
- You're either going in to rescue someone or haven't a bloody clue what you're doing
- Some kind of disease/the occult is to blame
- There appears to be a fine layer of rust/grime on a lot of stuff
- The quality of gameplay could be described as awkward and unwieldy but that may have been the point
- Everyone in the world apparently has a journal/diary that you can find containing cliche thoughts and feelings

Is anyone dead of alcohol poisoning yet?

Might as well add my own.
Take a shot if...
-The main character has some kind of disorder or illness brought up constantly.
-The character breathes heavily.
-Motion blur is more prevalent than usual.
-The "monster" clips

I don't know. I suppose it depends on whether you count "dies of severe alcohol poisoning" as getting drunk.

Interesting... Am I to understand that we have to take the shots when we first start playing, and not during the game itself?

Take a drink if:

The game is made in RPG maker.

you have a "sanity" meter.

The ending tells you that the monsters you killed were innocent humans.

The monster is either an urban legend(like mothman) or a "fake" urban legend(slenderman).

The main character is an idiot, or seems to lack common sense.

Dead and dead drunk are basically the same thing aren't they?

Ha, damn I'm lovin this XD.

- Game seizes control from you every now and then to make you look at a 'SUPER SCARAY!' thing
- If there are audio or written logs at least one of them will have the author killed/attacked mid sentence
- Blur. Not motion blur, just...blur.

-The gameplay is comprised entirely of Moon-Logic Puzzles.
-Has a ridiculous twist ending in which you were either hallucinating the whole thing, or were in fact the villain all along.
-Mysterious screams can be heard echoing from another room every now and again.

-Take a drink if static covers the screen.
-Take a drink if the main character is a young girl.
-Take a drink if it begins in the woods, and take another drink if you end up in a haunted house.
-Take a drink if it takes place in an asylum or hospital.
-Take a drink if the monsters have no actual animations and simple telaport.
-Take a drink ever time the some character says "father..." or "mother..."
-Finish your drink if the game is about parental issues.
-Finish your drink if the game never explains anything.
-Take a drink if the character describes their situation as a "nightmare".
-Take a drink if the character is IN a nightmare.
-Take a drink every time the monster(s) say they want to "play" or "be friends" with the main character.
-Take a drink if Lovecraft, Poe, or Shakespeare are quoted.
-Finish your drink if the notes have the author's sanity decreasing, yet still writing journal entries for no real reason.
-Take a drink if a monster suddenly and unexpectedly bursts into a room.
-Take a drink for every chase sequence.

All I can think of, ATM. :p

Alright I'm gonna switch it up a little and make some rules for the AAA horror game drinking game ;P

Take a drink if:

It's made in Unreal Engine
You play as a male
You play as a white male
You play as a white, middle aged male
You play as a white, middle aged male with short brown hair
You have a gun
Significant detail has been put into the weapons/weapon systems
There is a combat system
There is a cover system
Gore is a significant feature
You end up shooting at/killing what it is you're supposed to be afraid of
You have regenerating health
Health kits/ammo are around every corner
There is writing on the walls in blood (this one is prevalent in all types of horror games, not just indie)
There are jump scares
It has co-op
There is multiplayer
It has DLC
It has day-one DLC
It's at least 60 dollars at launch

Oh, and I just thought of another indie horror game one...

Down your drink if... It's first person and the main character is apparently a living video camera.

Well this sounds like a strange drinking game based on the conditions of the game. I think it should be based on the events of the game.
Jump Scare
Character finds dead friend
Shocking revelation
Appearance of creepy Child
Character questions sanity
Character has a vision
Character defies logic and does something stupid (you know like in movies)
Something clichéd happens
Plot Twist

So you're essentially saying "Drink if you are playing any indie horror game made in the past decade"....I'M IN! Where's the IV hooked up to a keg of vodka?

- If your character is holding a flashlight.
- If there is writing on the walls in blood. Subversion - it turns out to be lipstick, so half a shot perhaps?
- The game primarily revolves around you collecting stuff.
- If it's based of a Creepypasta.
*Another shot if it's based of Slenderman.
- If it's based of SCP (I don't thick SCP is technically considered CreepyPasta).

- The playable character is of questionable sanity Sort of - she can't remember the previous night and thinks she's going insane, but it turns out she's actually very, very sane. Which is worse, in fact...
- You're either going in to rescue someone or haven't a bloody clue what you're doing Trying to find her lost friends, not specifically 'rescue' them - it's more a case of trying to remember the previous night.
- Some kind of disease/the occult is to blame Too much detail would give away key plot points, but there's a scientific basis for an occult kind of explanation...
- There appears to be a fine layer of rust/grime on a lot of stuff
- The quality of gameplay could be described as awkward and unwieldy but that may have been the point
- Everyone in the world apparently has a journal/diary that you can find containing cliche thoughts and feelings Not cliche, I try very hard to avoid those in my writing, but there is a journal - only one in the game though, and it belongs to the main character

Is anyone dead of alcohol poisoning yet?

-The gameplay is comprised entirely of Moon-Logic Puzzles. There'll be some of these, hopefully not too many - I want to make the puzzles relatively logical and sensible for the most part
-Has a ridiculous twist ending in which you were either hallucinating the whole thing, or were in fact the villain all along. A bit of a twist, but not ridiculous and hinted at through the gameplay anyway. And developed over the course of multiple episodes as well...
-Mysterious screams can be heard echoing from another room every now and again.
BreakfastMan said:
-Take a drink if static covers the screen.
-Take a drink if the main character is a young girl. A twenty-two year old bisexual Irish girl living in the north of England - just finished university, now starting work as a journalist for a local rag, trying to find her friends including her (now ex-) boyfriend
-Take a drink if it begins in the woods, and take another drink if you end up in a haunted house. Starts in the woods in Episode 1, a 'haunted house' is a possible location to end up in but not required unless trying to unlock all 6 endings. The next episode will mostly take place in a city instead, but parts of the city are 'haunted', for lack of a better term...
Kind of iffy here, the first episode won't, but future episodes will feed the background and explanations in drips and drabs
-Take a drink if the character describes their situation as a "nightmare". This would be a cliche but it's a possiblity - I want to avoid cliches but I haven't got the exact journal entries written down yet...
-Take a drink if the character is IN a nightmare.
-Take a drink every time the monster(s) say they want to "play" or "be friends" with the main character.
-Take a drink if Lovecraft, Poe, or Shakespeare are quoted. Again, would be cliche and script isn't yet written, but I am a fan of Shakespeare and Poe so some of that might work its way into my characters
-Finish your drink if the notes have the author's sanity decreasing, yet still writing journal entries for no real reason. Subverted - main character is writing all her thoughts in a journal because she's a journalist and wants a record of the events to write it up later. She only thinks she's going insane though, really she's perfectly fine
-Take a drink if a monster suddenly and unexpectedly bursts into a room.
-Take a drink for every chase sequence.

All I can think of, ATM. :p

Oh, and I just thought of another indie horror game one...

Down your drink if... It's first person and the main character is apparently a living video camera. Yes, it's first-person, because I want to use games like Myst as inspiration for the gameplay and puzzles. There will be cutscenes made as fully rendered videos, though, where we see the protagonist fully...

Jump Scare
Character finds dead friend Maybe, maybe not... more details would spoil it, and I want to keep people guessing ;D
Shocking revelation Fairly shocking, but hinted at over time...
Appearance of creepy Child Subversion - creepy young adult. Imagine Faith from Dreamfall, but aged around 18/19...
Character questions sanity Oh, hell yes.
Character has a vision Played with. Many flashbacks, but the weird thing is, she wasn't present for the memories she's reliving. And the memories change depending on what she does in the present...
Character defies logic and does something stupid (you know like in movies) Well, she stays around in the woods when her friends disappear... otherwise, she's actually very sensible and intelligent, kind of like April Ryan in The Longest Journey. We'll ignore the Gribbler scene from that game for now...
Something clichéd happens Avoiding as much as possible
Plot Twist See above
Right, this may be the largest number of posts I've ever quoted in one go, but oh well. Basically I just want to see how dead/drunk people playing the game I'm planning to make will nd up becoming if they play this drinking game, at the time of this post. Hence the edits above - I'm guessing fairly drunk...

For the record, this isn't something I've already made, it's something I'm writing and want to make. Trouble is I don't have any programming skills or artistic experience, especially not when it comes to using Unity or Source. Thus if anyone with those skills wants to help me out then please, get in touch ASAP :).

(Oh, and that makes roughly 23.5 shots, unless I've miscounted - either way, more than 20. I think people will be pretty wasted playing my game...)

Take a shot when:
It's a first person game.
It's being 'filmed' like Slender.
Bonus shot if the screen turns blurry or static when you're being damaged.
You're totally defenseless
You don't walk or run that fast.
Miss shot if the game does have a 'sprint button'
The game is based on a urban legend.
Take another shot if it's a Japanese urban legend (They know how to do it)
Take yet another if the game is based on a Creepypasta or an SCP
Chug the friggin bottle if the enemy is based on Slender Man.
The game is unwinnable or has a cliffhanger
Bonus shot if the player character dies.
Take a sip when there is a jump scare
Extra sip for every scare cord
Sanity comes into question
The game has a plain, game over screen with no music or anything else of note.
Take a sip if they game uses the Unity Engine
It's a puzzle game
It's a "find the thing" game

You cruel bastard.

OT: I dunno, if the main character had a tragic past?

Edit: Woooo finally got 1.3k (why did we stop celebrating pointless posting landmarks?)
